Write letter to Trump for Aafia release, Altaf Shakoor advises Imran

Karachi, December 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pasban Democratic Pakistan President Altaf Shakoor here Tuesday advised the Prime Minister Imran Khan to seize opportunity of the letter of the US President Trump and also write him a letter for release of Pakistani woman scientist Dr Aafia Siddiqui.

In a statement, he said the US President has sought help from the Pakistani Prime Minister by writing him a letter. He said this is a golden opportunity for Imran Khan’s government to seek reciprocal assistance from the US president for release of Dr Siddiqui. He said the release of Aafia is an old demand of the Pakistani nation and Prime Minister Imran Khan would win the hearts and minds of people by writing a letter to the US administration on this important issue.

Altaf Shakoor said the Prime Minister Imran Khan himself has said that in past the attitude of the Pakistani rulers to the US was apologetic. He said it is high time to change this attitude and seeking assistance from the US President on the Aafia issue could be a good beginning. He said President Trump is seeking help for brining peace in the war-torn Afghanistan, and interestingly Aafia Siddiqui is also the victim of this international conflict and dark conspiracies related to it. She has been braving illegal detention and inhuman atrocities unnecessarily for long which should be now ended for good and this victimized woman should be allowed to re-join her children and family.

Altaf Shakoor said the Pakistani masses rejected both Zardari and Nawaz and reposed confidence in Imran Khan because he promised that he would uphold the national honour and dignity and end corruption and exploitation and protect basic rights of Pakistanis. He said the national honour of Pakistan could not be restored without the release of the innocent daughter of the nation.

He said if we cannot defend the basic human rights of Dr Aafia how we could defend the rights of other Pakistanis. He said the government of Imran Khan should not miss this opportunity to openly communicate with the US administration on the issue of Pakistani mother Aafia. He said this would boost the popularity of Prime Minister Imran Khan and help him bring economic and political stability in the country.
