Jamshoro, May 17, 2018 (PPI-OT): Nothing in the world can ever come in the way of an impassioned individual. Sindh girls are brave, determined and dedicated. They have proven their mettle in all walks of life. PhD research carried out and presented by Scholar Ms. Shamim Akhtar Mari is an inspiring example of academic devotion.
The above remarks were registered by SU-VC Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat while presiding over thesis defense seminar of scholar Ms. Shamim Akhtar Mari of Abida Taherani Sindh Development Studies Centre, University of Sindh. The seminar was held at video conference hall at the office of Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences.
“Social and economic hardships cannot prevent a committed person from achieving his/ her aim. Confidence, strong nerve and determined stance ultimately win a person laurels,” stated Dr. Burfat. Vice Chancellor Dr. Burfat further said that though Ms. Mari belonged to a down-trodden tribal and socio-economically less developed Thar zone; yet she had persevered and excelled on account of her unflinching approach, in surmountable belief in painstaking labour and determined diligence.
Offering his erudite analysis on scholar Ms. Mari’s deliberations, Dr. Burfat observed that hers was an innovative effort in the right direction, as it addressed authentic issue of seasonal migration on the schooling of children of migrating families in the socio-economic backdrop of Thar Desert, in an exhaustive and multidimensional spectrum.
Dr. Burfat also exclusively eulogized the confident manner, posture and style in which scholar Ms. Mari made her presentation. “I congratulate this brave and academically-sound girl upon successfully presenting and defending her dissertation. She has brought us all immense pride and a conviction that when driven, a person could move even mountains,” Dr. Burfat asserted.
Earlier, Ms. Mari made a detailed presentation by the help of slideshow featuring objective, scientific analysis of the problem at hand, statistics accrued through research and recommendations based on research findings. The seminar was declared successful following on-the-spot recommendation of the external evaluator/ expert Prof. Dr. Aijaz Ali Khooharo of Sindh Agricultural University, Tandojam.
