Jamshoro, March 03, 2019 (PPI-OT): Vice chancellor University of Sindh, Jamshoro Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat along with his team comprising SU- Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Chandio, Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences Prof. Dr. Akhtar Hussain Moghal, Dean, Faculty of Social Sciences Prod. Dr. Zareen Abbasi, Adviser Planning and Development Sajid Qayoom Memon, Director Finance Dr. Hakim Ali Mahesar, Director ORIC Dr. Imtiaz Korejo, Director I.T. Services Dr. Yasir Arfat Malkani, Director Admission Abdul Majeed Panhwar, SU web administrator Dr. Kamran Brohi and others participated in the consultative meeting convened by Higher Education Commission Islamabad at its lecture hall, with all Vice Chancellors/ Rectors/ Heads of Higher Education Institutions of public sector universities across Pakistan in attendance.
SU team headed by vice chancellor Dr. Burfat participated in this online video- conference interface by being physically available at the video- conference room of the Dean, Faculty of Natural Sciences of the varsity. The meeting was presided over by Chairman Higher Education Commission Islamabad Dr. Tariq Banuri.
The meeting deliberated in detail upon the agenda items that included funding for the universities, transparency in execution and disposal of office business, adoption of policy of self- generation of indigenous funds, examining issue of fee structure in terms of admission to foreign students in Pakistani universities, promotion of culture of native-global academic engagement at campuses, budget allocation and expenditure analysis, development of strong international student intake policy, establishment of academic centers abroad in the areas of expertise, intra-and-inter-varsity in-country exchange programs, enhancing national integration through inter-provincial admission of students, streamlining student diversity dynamics, encouragement of applied research focusing on identification and solution of regional and national problems, provision of PERN facility and allocation of special grant to degree colleges and exploration of the possibility of developing uniform academic calendar for all varsities in the country in the interest of smart use of time resource.
Dr. Banuri briefed those in attendance about HEC reform and development initiatives and also sought their detailed input on all agenda items. All learned attendees including SU vice chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat appreciated the efforts of Dr. Banuri towards promotion of higher education in Pakistan and assured him of their all-out support to realize his academic and research vision to its fullest fruition.
