Under the academic year 2023, the phased entry test for admission to various bachelor degree programs has started in the University of Sindh 

Jamshoro, October 31, 2022 (PPI-OT):Phased pre-entry test for admissions in more than 70 fields of bachelor degree programs was held in the University of Sindh Jamshoro under the academic year 2023. In the first phase, a total of 8960 candidates including 1600 female students participated in the test. Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro reviewed and supervised the examination process. He expressed satisfaction over the arrangements made by various committees.

During the Vice Chancellor’s visit, Sindh University Registrar Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto, Director of Admissions Prof. Dr. Ayaz Careo, Dr. Irfana Begum Malah, Dr. Misbah Bibi Qureshi, Dr. Hamadullah Kakipoto and others were with him. The entrance test started at ten o’clock in the morning, which continued for 90 minutes (one and a half hours). For the entrance test, separate examination blocks were set up for 1600 students in Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Institute of English Language and Literature, while examination halls were set up for 7360 students in Arts Faculty, Mass Communication, Zoology Departments and Faculty of Engineering and Technology.

Gone On the first day of the first phase of the entry test, 14 districts of Sindh, Dadu, Larkana, Qamber-Shahdadkot, Ghotki, Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Sukkur, Khairpur Meris, Nowsheferooz, Shaheed Benazirabad, Sanghar, Karachi and Umarkot, besides Punjab, Candidates from Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan provinces participated. After the commencement of the entrance test, Sindh University Vice Chancellor Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddiq Kalhoro told the media that in today’s first phase, 7360 male and 1600 female students are participating in the test, the total number of which is 8960.

He said that due to the best strategy, the test was conducted in a peaceful manner and no minor incident occurred, thanks be to Allah. He said that by conducting the test in two stages, the expenses will be reduced and the candidates will get a chance to avoid the worry due to the rush. He said that despite the recent flood devastation in Sindh, more candidates submitted applications for admission than last year, which in fact is an expression of confidence in the growing reputation of the University of Sindh. He said that Higher Education Commission Islamabad did not increase the budget of the university by one rupee from 2015 till now, due to which the university is suffering from crisis.

He said that Sindh government has definitely increased the budget of Sindh University during the last two to three years, but the institution needs more funds due to the lack of annual budget of one billion rupees. Meanwhile, temporary medical dispensaries were also set up in various examination centers including Mass Communication, Faculty of Arts and Institute of English Language and Literature, and ambulances were also arranged to deal with emergency situations. And the candidates were provided a very friendly and peaceful environment during the test. Focal persons and deans of various campuses were also present.

The control room was established in the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences. Meanwhile, according to Sindh University Testing Center Director Dr. Aftab Chandio, the results of the phased entry test will be released on the same day. On the other hand, arrangements were made for the candidates to be accommodated by their parents (for males) at Fatima Jinnah Girls Gymnasium and Syed Panaha Ali Shah Model School for females. They were also given bottles of mineral water to drink. Drinking water bottles and ball pens were also given to the test takers.

The candidates expressed their happiness over the arrangements made by the Sindh University administration for the pre-entry test and praised the entire discipline and examination system including security. It is clear that the point buses were run from Hyderabad on time, while the entrance to the university for female students was kept at Station Road, Sindalaji Gate for students and Babul Islam gate for teachers, officials and employees. In the second phase, the entry test will be held on November 6.
