Karachi, June 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):Adding another feather in its cap, the Indus Hospital and Health Network (IHHN) is proud to announce another free-of-cost service to its wide range of health facilities at its Korangi Campus. The Indus Hospital (TIH), Korangi Campus will be offering ‘Peritoneal Dialysis’ service also known as a home dialysis solution. At the moment, IHHN boasts an 8 bed dialysis set-up at the Korangi Campus and a 20-bed dedicated dialysis facility at PIB Colony – Fakir Trust Campus.
Both – the Fakir Trust Campus and TIH offer hemodialysis service, however, TIH will now be offering Peritoneal Dialysis. Peritoneal Dialysis is done by instilling a cleansing fluid (called dialysate) through a tube (catheter) inside a patient’s abdominal cavity (peritoneal cavity). This dialysate absorbs waste products from blood vessels in the abdominal lining (peritoneum) and then is drawn back out of the body and discarded.
Unlike hemodialysis, which removes excess water, solutes, and waste products from the body through the machines, Peritoneal Dialysis offers an easy alternative to patients to remove waste products from their body manually without the help of a machine. This process can also be done at home, at work, or even while traveling. Through this, patients enjoy a better quality of life and have the freedom to move around easily while performing their everyday tasks.
