CEO Punjab Rural Support Programme Abid Saeed visited UVAS 

Lahore, May 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chief Executive Officer Punjab Rural Support Programme (PRSP) Mr Abid Saeed visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad here in City Campus. Meanwhile a detailed meeting was held in syndicate room with Mr Abid Saeed. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and chaired the meeting while Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Director Institute of Continue Education and Extension Dr Qurban Hussain, Dr Sanaullah Bhatti and other senior faculty members and officers were present.

During meeting Mr Abid Saeed sought suggestion, discussed various areas of collaboration with UVAS. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad suggested work for the development of UVAS Business Incubation Center, rural woman empowerment, internship of graduate students, livestock farming community profitability in collaboration with PRSP.

He also spoke about the history of UVAS, various degree programme, diploma and short training courses conducting other campuses of UVAS. All the participants of meeting suggested collaborative areas related to youth entrepreneurship, curriculum development for the mobilization of livestock farming community. Abid Saeed said it is direly needed to work for the awareness of livestock farming community for their profitability and entrepreneurship of students to promote socio economic impact.

UVAS arranged seminar on “Current Challenges and Future Prospects of Poultry Business”

Lahore, May 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Department of Poultry Production of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore arranged seminar on “Current Challenges and Future Prospects of Poultry Business” under Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Programme at Prof Dr Akram Educational Complex Ravi Campus Pattoki on Tuesday.

Chief Executive Officer Pasban Poultry and Roshan Feeds Mr Rana Ghulam Sabir, General Manger Marketing Pasban Poultry Dr Muhammad Faheem were the resource persons of the seminar while Chairman Department of Poultry Production Dr Shahid Mehmood and number of students attended seminar. In the seminar Mr Rana Ghulam Sabir delivered a detailed lecture on poultry entrepreneurship as a professional career while Dr Muhammad Faheem spoke about the poultry marketing business opportunities and challenges.

5-days Livestock Management Course of KP Hazara division veterinary professionals complete at UVAS 

Lahore, May 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock Department Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under the project “Livelihood Improvement through Livestock Development in Hazara Division KP” organised five day Livestock Management Course here at UVAS Veterinary Academy.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates among the participants while Project Manager Dr Muhammad Zafran Turk, Director Veterinary Academy Dr Muhammad Ikram, Dr Zahid and a number of participants were present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that UVAS is a national university imparting professional knowledge and skills to livestock professionals for their capacity building.

He advised participants to spread knowledge which you learnt from this training among other professionals through social media so that maximum impact could be achieved. Various aspects were discussed during five day course related to animal housing, managing and amp; monitoring, farm hygiene and amp; biosecurity, animal selection, management of animals, production related to disorders and general management and amp; care etc.

Chinese delegation from Guangxi Buffalo Research Institute and Royal Cell Biotechnology paid visits at UVAS 

Lahore, May 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):Six-member Chinese delegation from Guangxi Buffalo Research Institute China and Royal Cell Biotechnology China/Pakistan led by Director and Professor Jinghua Shang visited the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore on Thursday called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad here in City Campus.

Meanwhile a detailed meeting was held in syndicate room with Chinese delegation. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the meeting while Chairman Department of Theriogenology Prof Dr Amjad Riaz and Prof Dr Rizwan Yousaf, other members of the Chinese delegation Prof Guangsheng Qin, Prof of Ovum Pick up Unit Mr Jian Huang, Director Qin JunJie from Guangxi Buffalo Research Institute China and Admin Officer Mr Zhou Jian and Technical Manager Qaiser Shahzad from Royal Cell Biotechnology China/Pakistan were present.

During meeting they discussed the areas of collaboration for the learning and training of students and faculty members regarding buffalo reproduction latest technology to boost production of Pakistani local breed by adoption of new technology ovum pick up, dairy animal breeding and amp; genetics improvement, feeding and nutrition and embryos transfer technology, sharing knew knowledge, experiences with each other.

The Chinese delegation willing to collaborate with UVAS in buffalo research for the learning of professional skills, train human resource and exchange scientists. Earlier, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad briefed the delegation on UVAS academic and research projects and national and international collaborations and history of university through UVAS video documentary.

He said Pakistan is blessed with best breeds of buffalo and joint venture between China and Pakistan is the key way to boost buffalo production. He said in future with the help of Chinese experts we need to set our new targets for the further improvement of buffalo breed.

Prof Dr Amjad Riaz said that main objectives of this collaboration were to impart technical training of UVAS students regarding the latest research, knowledge, dairy science and buffalo reproduction technology. He also suggested to started short term training programs for professionally skills enhancement of UVAS students in collaboration with Guangxi Buffalo Research Institute China in future.

UVAS arranged awareness walk to mark World Thalassaemia day 

Lahore, May 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Blood Donor Society of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore in collaboration with UVAS Senior Tutor Office arranged walk to mark world Thalassemia day to create awareness among public regarding the deadly disease with the aim of making the country thalassemia free.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad led the walk, starting from Vice-Chancellor office and culminating in front of UVAS main lawn while Principle Officer City Campus Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Senior Tutor Prof Dr Ali Raza Awan, Dr Muhammad Asif Ali and a large number of students and faculty members participated.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad lauded the role of UVAS Blood Donor Society actively working as a volunteer for noble cause to create awareness among public regarding thalassemia disease. He said in the modern age with the help of information technology Blood Donor Society also can play its pivotal role as a role model for the other societies and NGO`s in Pakistan.

UVAS holds farewell ceremony on retirement of Prof Dr Anjum Khalique

Lahore, May 10, 2022 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore organised a farewell ceremony in the honour of Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique on his retirement here on Tuesday at City Campus. Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahamd presided over the ceremony while Deans, Principals, Directors, Chairpersons from different departments, members of Syndicate, Academic Council and Advanced Studies and Research Board, officials from Registrar Office and senior faculty members from other campuses of UVAS were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad lauded the services and contribution of Prof Dr Anjum Khalique especially for the uplift of Ravi Campus Pattoki. He shared that Prof Anjum performed his service on different positions with honesty and full of dedication and contribute a lead role in the establishment of Jamia Masjid at Ravi Campus Pattoki. He also lauded the tradition of UVAS and Registrar office to arrange such farewell ceremony to remember the services and contributions of its retired faculty members.

Addressing the audience, Prof Dr Anjum Khalique said that during my service I always support my junior faculty members and work for their betterment. He also shared his past memories and experiences. He thanked UVAS leadership and expressed their best wishes for the progress of university.

Earlier Chairperson Department of Animal Nutrition Prof Dr Saima spoke about the contributions of Prof Dr Anjum Khalique. She said Prof Anjum served for 32 years and have vast experience in teaching, research, administration, poultry nutrition, industrial by-products utilization and nutraceuticals plant utilization and providing extension services to the poultry farmers from 1990-2022. She said Prof Anjum served as Project Director for visiting faculty Hostel and also remained Director External Linkages.

She said Prof Dr Anjum remained Director of UVAS Continue Education and Extension and after few years he became Chairman Department of Animal Nutrition in 2011-2015. Prof Dr Anjum Khalique was HEC approved supervisor and total 60 MPhil and 04 PhD students have completed their degrees under his supervision, she added.

Earlier, a farewell ceremony in the honour of Dean Faculty of Animal Production and Technology Prof Dr Anjum Khalique also organized by the faculty members of UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki. Vice-Chancellor University of Education Lahore (UE) Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha along with UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad attended farewell ceremony.
