MLT Expert interact with UVAS graduates

Lahore, February 28, 2023 (PPI-OT):Institute of Microbiology (IOM) of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore organized an interactive session of passing-out Medical Lab Technology (MLT) students/graduates at UVAS. Director Admin Health Zone Lab Lahore Mr Nadeem Ashraf was the resource person and gave detail lecture to UVAS passing-out MLT graduates. Director (IOM) Prof Dr Tahir Yaqub, Prof Dr Aftab Ahmad Anjum, Dr Shahan Azeem and 55 MLT fresh graduates of UVAS were present.

Mr Nadeem Ashraf gave lecture on soft skills needed for MLT internee, future opportunities and professional ethics. The aim of the interaction was to impart professional knowledge and skills to young professional graduates. Meanwhile, a two-days training workshop on preparation of “Clinical Proficiency Examination (CPE)” was organized by Department of Veterinary Surgery at Veterinary Academy. Chief Executive Officer Springwood Animal Hospital from Canada Dr Sohail Dilawar was the Resource Person.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired inaugural session of the workshop while Prof Dr Hassan Saleem, Dr Ayesha Safdar, Dr Hamad Rasheed and a number of Veterinarian and students participated in the workshop.

Secretary Livestock M Masood Anwar paid visits UVAS Ravi Campus Pattoki 

Lahore, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):Secretary Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L and DD) Muhammad Masood Anwar along with officials of Livestock Department paid a visit to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore`s Ravi Campus Pattoki called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad.

Secretary Livestock along with Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad visited various section of Prof Dr Muhammad Akram educational Complex, Central Laboratory Complex (CLC) and Training Center for Biologic Production (TCBP) and reviewed disease diagnostics, vaccine production and lab facilities for imparting practical knowledge to students. While visiting UVAS Ravi Campus A block, Secretary Livestock planted a sapling in front of Akram Complex for the promotion of greenery.

Meanwhile Institute of Continuing Education and Extension (ICE and E) of the UVAS organised the concluding ceremony of annual sports gala at Ravi Campus Pattoki. The objective of the event was to encourage students with distribute shields and certificates among those who showed outstanding performance in various annual sports competitions like football, tug of war, badminton, volley ball, race and kabaddi etc.

Secretary Livestock presided over the concluding ceremony and distributed certificates and shields among the winner of competitions while Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad, Director (ICE and E) Dr Hassan Mahmood Warraich, Principal Officer Ravi Campus Dr Arshad Javid, faculty members, Rural Development Research Group members and 300 students from the livestock assistant diploma (LAD) program and officials from Livestock Department were participated in the event.

Speaking on the occasion, M Masood Anwar appreciated the ongoing activities of the institute and encouraged LAD students to learn about competencies related to their field that how to serve for the betterment of farming community. Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad highlighted the significant role of livestock assistants and mentioned that there is need to strengthen their capacity according to the needs of livestock industry of Pakistan.

Dr Hassan Mahmood mentioned that how they have improved their existing quality of teaching methodology for faculty development and started the extension leadership development programs. He shared that national and international collaboration is going on to start various code signed project of extension and research. He stated that they are going to launch extension software and a post graduate degree program in extension which will be the instrumental at the time of need.

UVAS inks MoU with Tang International Education Group China for the promotion of education cooperation

Lahore, February 21, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore signed a memorandum of understanding with Tang International Group China for the promotion of education cooperation. UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad (SI) and Founder and President Tang Chinese Education and Technology Limited Beijing China Mr Li Jinsong signed a MoU in the online ceremony held at City Campus.

Under the MoU, Tang will facilitate in exchange of faculty and students from both sides between UVAS and Chinese universities. Tang will facilitate to build the liaison between UVAS Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization/Business Incubation Center with Chinese Science and Technology Parks, Technology Transfer Offices, Business/Technology Incubation Centers etc. for knowledge sharing, capacity building, research collaboration, joint ventures and other related fields.

Tang will arrange international trainings of UVAS faculty and staff at Chinese universities/organizations to learn about advance technologies/knowledge and systems and to promote linkages between the professionals of both sides. Tang will offer one semester free of cost demonstration to UVAS students and faculty members along with sharing experiences in innovative teaching methods regarding modern smart Chinese language education, course design and modem education tools introducing by Tang International Education. They will also organize jointly symposia and conferences like China-Pakistan International industrial academic cooperation alliance.

Livestock farmer Mr Ahmad Malik paid visits at UVAS

Lahore, February 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Renowned Livestock farmer from Multan Mr Ahmad Malik paid visits to the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore called on Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad and held a meeting with senior faculty member to discuss various issues related to farm management here on Monday at City Campus.

Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad briefed Mr Ahmad Malik on the UVAS academic, research, extension, disease diagnostic and advisory services regarding farm management and training programmes etc. He also mentioned the contribution of UVAS for the prevention of deadly disease regarding clostridia syndrome, lumpy skin, hemorrhagic septicemia, foot and mouth and different poultry disease. During meeting faculty members of UVAS spoke about various aspects of farm management related to vaccination/deworming of animal, feed test for diagnosis of aflatoxin, record keeping, nutritionist consultation, veterinary doctor visit and discussed measures to be adopted about biosafety and biosecurity etc.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Ahmad Malik acknowledged the role of UVAS for providing treatment and disease diagnostic facilities to save dairy animals and playing lead role for the benefit for livestock farming community. He praised UVAS state of the art disease prevention and diagnostic facilities to curb deadly disease. He also is willing to provide internship opportunities to UVAS students for their capacity building. Later Mr Ahmad Malik visited various departments of City Campus including Department of Meat Science and Technology, Pet Center and Quality Operation lab etc.

Dairy trainings on ‘Food Safety and Halal Management Systems and Intervention in Consumer Awareness’ complete at UVAS 

Lahore, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Department of Dairy Technology of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore in collaboration with Livestock and Dairy Development Department Punjab (L and DD) under the project of ‘Capacity Building of dairy farmers and industry stakeholders on milk value chain’ organised concluding ceremonies of five days and three days hands-on trainings on Food Safety and Halal Management Systems and Intervention in Consumer Awareness here at City Campus.

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad presided over the concluding ceremony of trainings and distributed certificates among participants while Project Director Dr Muhammad Junaid and 31 participants/professionals from public and private sectors including dairy farmers, veterinary officers, dieticians and consultants were present. Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad urged the participants learning techniques regarding dairy processing, value edition and pasteurization of milk to boost dairy sector.

Delegation from Brooke Pakistan visits UVAS Surgery Department

Lahore, February 17, 2023 (PPI-OT):Delegations from Brooke Pakistan led by Global Farriery Advisor Mr Angus Wiseman along with Farrier Consultant Tom Burch, Animal Welfare Officer Dr Vincent Oloo and Animal Welfare Officer Dr Samanta Opera paid visit to Department of Surgery of the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Lahore to reviewed available facilities of Surgery Department and they also showed interest in providing capacity building training to students and para-veterinary staff.

Later a meeting was held and Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad chaired the meeting while Prof Dr Aneela Zameer Durrani, Healthcare Manager Brook Pakistan Mr Jawaid Khan, Regional Manager Dr Arshad Ansari and UVAS faculty member and officials from Brooke Pakistan were present.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof Dr Nasim Ahmad said that UVAS collaboration with Brook Pakistan is not only important for the animal welfare even also for the beneficial of poor farming community. He shared UVAS collaborative work with Brook Pakistan is very necessary for imparting practical training to students and para-veterinary staff regarding equine handling, pain recognition, clinical competency skills and farrier treatment for their capacity building.
