Ehsaas Undergraduate Scholarship Project Phase III

Scholarships are offered for:

Newly admitted students of fall 2021 session in HEC recognized Public Sector University

Students fulfilling criteria of need and provide authentic information required under the Project’s policy.

Admissions secured on merit only. Merit means that the student has fulfilled the admission criteria of the institution in which he/she intends to study.

Degree programs allowed by the HEC.

Age limit set by institution’s regulations, i.e. the maximum age of the eligibility for the scholarship is the same as the maximum age for applying for admission in undergraduate programs at the HEI.

Ineligibility Conditions:

Student of 2nd, 3rd and above semesters are not eligible.

Availing any other scholarship or continuous grant.

Enrolled in distant learning programs and affiliated colleges (both public/private).

Secured admission on self-sustain/ self-support/ self-finance basis, or in evening programs with higher fee structures.

Two years associate degree programs and the nomenclature of BA/BSc programs are excluded.

If income of guardian is above Rs. 45,000/- then such student is ineligible.

Procedure

Form is online, link is https://ehsaas.hec.gov.pk/

After submission online in HEC the hard form must be submitted in office of Student Financial Aid, University of Haripur.

In case if any student applies online and does not submit hard form in Student Financial Aid Office, then such students will not be entertained for interview.

Last date is 30-11-2021.

ICRAELL Conference Proceedings-Day 3 (Opening Session) 

Wah Cantt, October 21, 2021 (PPI-OT):The last day of 1st International Conference on Recent Advances in English Language, Literature and Linguistics conducted by Department of English, University of Wah on 21 October, 2021 exhibited a galaxy of researchers from across the country and abroad. Dr. Rasib Mehmood, Chairperson, Department of English declared the day open.

He expressed his keen gratitude to scholars and researchers gathered from across globe to make ICRAELLL a successful one. The first keynote speech of the day was delivered by Prof. Dr. Patricia Jabbeh Wesley from Pennsylvania State University, US.

By discussing the themes related to Liberian War, She highlighted the role of creative writing and literature in conveying human agony, exile, racial discrimination and female suffering. Dr. Iman al Khalidi from University of Technology and Applied Sciences, Oman shared her contemplations by focusing on the pedagogical benefits of social media. The audience appreciated the keynote speeches and had an interactive QA session followed by tea break for all.

ICRAELLL Proceedings – Day 2 (Opening Session)

Wah Cantt, October 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Second day of International Conference on Recent Advances in English Language, Literature and Linguistics commenced on 20 October, 2021. Brig (Retd) Khalid Anwar, Director, Quality Assurance and Enhancement graced the opening ceremony as Chief Guest. In his keynote speech, he stressed on making UW a research-oriented hub for scholars and researchers.

He also informed the house that UW is in the process of attaining latest ISO standard namely ISO 21001: 2018 Educational Organizations Management System (EOMS). He discussed how Pakistani society retains a love-hate relationship with English and Urdu. Moreover, he also shed light on Second Language Learning issues that students encounter.

In addition to that, he discussed that Pakistani English called Pinglish, pronunciation and use of Perso-Arabic script is deteriorating the essence of Standard English Language. Dr. Rasib Mehmood, Chairperson. Department of English reiterated that UW is working diligently to solve these issues of Pakistani multilingual society by means of conferences and research. Later on, Ms. Anne Casey, an eminent poetess from Sydney, Australia delivered her enlightening keynote speech on “Gender, Humanity and Immigration: Using Archival Research and Docu-Writing to Restore Voice”.

The second keynote speech entitled “Representation and re-presentation of Kashmiri Women in Modern English Fiction” was delivered by Dr. Akhter Habib Shah, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Prince Sattam Bin Abdul Aziz University, and KSA. The session ended with interactive comments from audience followed by refreshment for all.

Webinar on “Mental Health and Coping during COVID-19 Pandemic” 

Wah Cantt, September 16, 2021 (PPI-OT):Department of Psychology organized a webinar titled “Mental Health and Coping during COVID-19 Pandemic” on 15 September, 2021. Dr Aneela Maqsood, Head, Department of Behavioural Sciences, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi was the guest speaker.

The purpose of this webinar was to spread awareness regarding coping strategies to deal with psychological effects of COVID-19 pandemic. More than 50 participants including students and faculty attended the webinar. The webinar ended with an interactive QA session.

Webinar on Professional Grooming Skills

Wah Cantt, September 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):Counselling and Placement Directorate in collaboration with Department of Management Sciences organized a webinar on “Professional Grooming Skills” for UW students and alumni on 08 September, 2021. This event was organized in continuity to a series of previous webinars i.e., “Interviewing Skills” and “CV Writing Skills”.

The webinar aimed at improving students’ skills during job/professional tenure. Mr. Salman Zia, Deputy Manager, Nayatel was the resource person. He highlighted how self-focus, communication, body language, building a good character and problem solving skills can contribute towards effective personality grooming.

The session helped students to gain insights into practical aspects of what an interviewer looks for in an interviewee. A short introductory video about life at UW was also presented. Over 100 participants, including students and faculty from various departments joined the webinar. The webinar ended with an interactive question answer session.

Webinar on Multimodality: Verbal and Non-verbal Communication

Wah Cantt, September 10, 2021 (PPI-OT):Department of English, as part of its lecture/webinar series by eminent foreign speakers, organized 3rd webinar on “Multimodality: Verbal and Non-verbal Communication” on 01 September, 2021. Dr. Hanita Hassan, Associate Professor and Chair of Language Academy, University Technology, and Malaysia was the guest speaker.

Several aspects from semiotics to multimodality were discussed following some new research aspects in Pakistani and Malaysian context. A large number of participants attended the webinar with keen interest. A brief QA session also followed the event. In the end, Associate Professor, Dr. Rasib Mahmood, Chairperson Department of English extended his gratitude to Dr. Hanita Hassan for her insightful discussion.
