Turbat, December 28, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Department of Management Sciences under its program “Business, Research and Self Development Program (BRSDP)” conducted a One-Day Workshop on “STATA” on 23rd December 2021, at the Department of Management Sciences, University of Turbat. The resource person of the workshop was Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor, and Director, QEC. The workshop was attended by faculty members and students from the Faculty of Economics, Commerce, and Business Administration. In the workshop, practical knowledge and data accessing and analyzing skills through ‘STATA’, was demonstrated.

Turbat, December 28, 2021 (PPI-OT):A delegation from the Women Development Department, Government of Balochistan led by Ms. Shazia Riaz, Regional Director Women’s Development Department visited the University of Turbat (UoT) on 24th December 2021 and met with UoT’s Pro-Vice-Chancellor (PVC), Dr. Mansoor Ahmed.

During the meeting, they discussed the matters related to the upcoming Women’s Expo 2022 which is going to be organized by the Women’s Development Department, Balochistan at Turbat city in February next year. Dr. Mansoor Ahmed appreciated the efforts of the Government of Balochistan for holding such an important social festival in Turbat city for the first time. On behalf of UoT’s Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, he assured the visitors of full cooperation during the forthcoming mega event in District Kech.

PVC acknowledged that women can play a very important role in the development of any society, therefore, it is imperative to ensure their participation in the developmental process. He said higher education empowers women to play their due role in nation-building. He said that the University of Turbat believes to provide opportunities of equal participation to women in every field of life.

Ms. Shazia Riaz lauded the efforts of the Vice-Chancellor and his administrative and academic team for creating an academic environment of gender equality in the University where female students are being encouraged and motivated to play their role in every field of life. The delegation also visited different academic departments of the University and interacted with the teaching faculty and students.

Turbat, December 28, 2021 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) and the University of Turbat (UoT) in order to create linkages between industry and Academia thus resulting in economic growth and stability in the country. RCCI president Ch. Nadeem Abdul Rauf and Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad from the University of Turbat signed and exchanged the MoU document at a ceremony held in Rawalpindi on 24th December 2021.

Under the document, both the parties agreed to promote and carry out collaborative activities in furtherance of the common interest of the organizations and to encourage its members to take part in conferences, seminars, workshops, job fairs, joint research, and other professional activities organized by the institutions. According to the agreement, the UoT will take measures in collaboration with RCCI for the promotion of entrepreneurship culture in the region. Besides providing opportunities for University’s students to attend meetings, seminars, and training sessions as observers for learning purposes, the RCCI will also provide internships to the University’s students in order to give them practical exposure to theoretical knowledge.

Speaking on the occasion, VC UoT Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad said, “The University of Turbat has always envisioned providing ample opportunities to its students to learn practical knowledge for becoming job providers instead of job seekers.” He said that under this MoU, the University’s students will be engaged in event management activities in the big events of RCCI so that they could get useful learning experiences.

Turbat, December 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, called on Honourable Governor Balochistan, Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha at Governor Secretariat Quetta here on 21st December 2021.

Vice-Chancellor briefed the Honourable Governor regarding the academic, financial, and infrastructural progress of the university during the meeting. He also apprised Governor Balochistan regarding the future plan of his institution. Honourable Syed Zahoor Ahmad Agha said, “Credit certainly goes to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, and his entire team that despite limited resources and difficult circumstances, the University of Turbat had found a prominent place among the reputed institutions of higher learning in a short span of time.”

He said the higher education institutions of Balochistan were now on the path toward development due to the interest and efforts taken by him. He said the guidance of the educationists and research scholars is imperative in adopting modern techniques of teaching and research in our universities. He said, “Higher education plays an important role in achieving new priorities and future’s goals and it is indispensable that all concerned officials should play their due role for the further progression of the University of Turbat.”

Turbat, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):An Online Awareness Session regarding Sister2Sister Exchange Program 2022 was organized by the Department of Economics, the University of Turbat on 10th December 2021 at the video conference room of the UoT. The female students from various departments attended the session.

The session was aimed to apprise the college and university female students regarding the opportunities available for them for perusing studies at prestigious American universities on scholarships. The Sisiter2Sister Exchange Program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and administered by a consortium of partners, including American University, iEARN-USA, and Society for International Education.

Turbat, December 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):Sindh Madressatul Islam (SMI) University, NED University, and IBA have agreed to enhance collaboration with the University of Turbat (UoT) for further strengthening the Directorate of QEC. Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Director QEC at UoT visited the directorates of QEC of SIMU, NED, and IBA Karachi on 15-17 December 2021 for exchange of the best practices and to enhance coordination with QECs of these universities.

He met with the officials of QECs including Dr. Saima Baig, Director, Mr. Ziauddin Ahmed, Deputy Director, QEC SMIU, Dr. Muhammad Wasif, Deputy Director, QEC NED, Mr. Sheikh Masood Ali, Manager and two Senior Executives of QEC IBA, Miss Anjiya Nuruddin and Miss Saadia Rasheed, they assured to extend collaboration in strengthening of QEC at their universities. Dr. Riaz Ahmed also visited incubation centers of IBA where the incubators briefed him about their business plans.
