Computer Science Department organizes a webinar

Turbat, April 13, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Vice-Chancellor, University of Turbat (UoT), Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad has said that today’s world needs professionals equipped with the latest tools and technology to compete and contribute to society. He expressed these views on the occasion of a webinar on “Paths and Challenges for Computer Science Graduates” conducted by the Department of Computer Science of UoT here on 12th April 2023 in the Video Conference Hall of the university through Zoom.

He said that the University of Turbat is on the path to accommodate students of the region to learn and contribute to society in the field of Information Technology, and the highly qualified faculty members of the Computer Science Department are engaged to educate and train the students with the latest courses and technologies. The webinar was attended by faculty members including Dr. Rashid Ali, Muhammad Sameer, Balach Khan, Junaid Qadir, Bilal ur Rehman, Zahoor Ahmed, Muhammad Asim, and Students of the Computer Science Department.

The guest speakers including Engr. Aqeel ur Rahman, Consultant Development at Systems Limited, Karachi, and Engr. Adil Raza Khan, Senior Software Engineer at HyperData Computing, Karachi shared their views with the participants on the latest tools, including Javascript, PHP, Python, Asp.net, Github, and the latest education paths available for Computer Science graduates.

The speakers also educated the student about initiating a startup and setting up their businesses. The webinar participants also asked queries regarding the latest technological tools and approaches in practice. The Computer Science faculty members thanked the guest speakers for attending the webinar. The participants emphasized organizing more seminars, workshops, and exhibitions in the future to learn more about the IT industry’s current tools and technologies.

World Health Day observed at Turbat University

Turbat, April 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): On the eve of World Health Day, the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, University of Turbat (UoT) organized a walk here on 7th April 2023 at the Main Campus of UoT. The students of the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences participated in the walk. They were holding placards and banners with slogans to create awareness and advocate for healthcare issues affecting communities worldwide. This year’s theme is “Health for All: Everyone and Everywhere”.

The walk was led by Jeand Baloch, Lecturer, Natural and Basic Sciences Department. Speaking on the occasion, he said that it is a global initiative that aims to draw the attention of the people toward issues related to global health. He added that it is also an opportunity to take concrete action to tackle the health challenges of today and tomorrow.

Defense of MS scholar held at Management Sciences Department

Turbat, April 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):Mr. Jaleel Altaf, MS scholar, at the Department of Management Sciences, defended his MS dissertation successfully on 5th April 2023. He has completed his research work under the supervision of Dr. Riaz Ahmed, Assistant Professor, Department of Management Sciences. Dr. Nadir Khan, Assistant Professor, Institute of Management Sciences, University of Balochistan, Quetta, has participated as an external examiner of the scholar through the video link.

14th Academic Council meeting held at University of Turbat

Turbat, April 04, 2023 (PPI-OT):The 14th Academic Council meeting of the University of Turbat (UoT) was held on 31st March 2023 at the video conference room of the university. The meeting was chaired by the Prof. Dr. Jan Muhammad, Vice Chancellor, UoT and attended by the members of the council. Appreciating the role of the Academic Council in the progress of university, Dr. Jan Muhammad said that the inputs and proposals given by the honourable members of the council will leave a far-reaching impact on the university’s academic development in the future. Registrar Ganguzar Baloch presented the agenda items one by one before the members for deliberation and decision.

Besides approving the minutes of previous meetings, the council discussed and resolved several matters related to degree programs of affiliated colleges, curriculum of associate degree programs, ADA/ADS examinations sessions 2020-22 and 2021-23, deficiency courses for bridging semester to BS degree programs, amendments in undergraduate rules 2023, course coding guidelines, allocating of seats for the children of overseas Pakistanis, and revision of fee structure for spring session 2023 and onwards.

Dr. Niamatullah Kakar represents Turbat University in International Congress

Turbat, March 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): Dr. Niamatullah Kakar, Assistant Professor, Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, University of Turbat (UoT) presented his talk and poster at the “41st Pakistan Congress of Zoology (International)” at the University of Punjab, Lahore from March 16-18, 2023. The event was organized by the Institute of Zoology, the University of Punjab, and the Zoology Society of Pakistan (ZSP). Professors, researchers, and scientists from Europe, the USA, China, and Pakistan presented their research work at the conference.

Dr. Kakar, while representing the University of Turbat, presented his research work on the Characterization of Heavy Metal Contamination in Water and Fish. Dr. Kakar further presented a poster presentation titled “Deciphering the effect of locally circulating SARS_CoV-2 variants on the haematological profile of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infected patients”. The research work of Dr. Kakar was highly appreciated by the organizers and participants.

Prize Distribution Ceremony of International Mendel Day and World Water Day held at Turbat University

Turbat, March 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): Department of Natural and Basic Sciences, University of Turbat (UoT) organized a prize distribution ceremony on 29th March 2023 to award prizes and certificates to those outstanding participants who got distinguished positions in the different activities which were held earlier at Turbat University on account of International Mendel Day, International Women’s Day and World Water Day. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the event, Dr. Mansoor Ahmed, Pro-Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences for organizing different activities at UoT and congratulated all winners in various categories of different events.

He urged the faculty and students to continue their hard work and amplify their efforts in the organization of such events. He acknowledged the significance of World Water Day for water-stressed regions including Makran. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Jahageer Khan, Chairman, of the Department of Natural and Basic Sciences highlighted the importance of genetics in our lives and apprised the audience about the valuable work done by Gregor Mendel. He vowed to commemorate these events with more energy and enthusiasm next year.

In the end, prizes and certificates were distributed among winners in various categories. Registrar Ganguzar Baloch, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Dr. Shah Mir Baloch, Protocol Officer, Mir Bahad Baloch, faculty members, and students also attended the event.
