PU IAP organized a panel discussion to celebrate Women’s Day 2023

Lahore, March 22, 2023 (PPI-OT): Institute of Applied Psychology, University of the Punjab, organized a panel discussion to celebrate Women’s Day 2023 with the theme “Empowered Women Empower Women”. Dr. Fatima Kamran Associate Professor and program coordinator MS Health Psychology arranged and moderated an interactive session where inspirational women from all walks of life shared their journeys.

The aim was to acknowledge the struggles of women and ways to cope with the sociocultural challenges faced by women in Pakistan. The esteemed panelists included Prof. Dr. Amina Muazzam, Chairperson, Department of Applied Psychology, LCWU; Dr. Maria Haque, Consultant Radiologist, Mayo Hospital Lahore; Ms. Komal Faisal, Psychologist, Trainer and Educationists; Dr. Hajira Usman, Family Physician; Ms. Shazia Shahbaz, Home Maker; Ms. Saman Zubair, Marriage Consultant; Ms. Saima Pirzada, Fashion Designer; Ms. Ambreen Fatima, social Activist and Lawyer and Ms. Rohina Imtiaz, Motivational Speaker.

The Guest speakers highlighted the role of women in different sectors of society. The Guest Speakers motivated and guided young girls to be more empowered. The Director Institute of Applied Psychology, Prof. Dr Rafia Rafique asserted that it’s the competence of women that enables them to play their role in different capacities.

The discussion was followed by a question answer session in which students participated and asked questions to the guest speakers. The event was attended by Faculty Members of IAP including Dr. Saima Ghazal, Associate Professor and Dr. Afifa Anjum, Assistant Professor along with students and staff members. The director, Prof. Dr. Rafia Rafique concluded the session with a vote of thanks to Dr. Fatima Kamran for organizing an informative event.

Punjab University Centre for Clinical Psychology organizes sports gala

Lahore, March 21, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Centre for Clinical Psychology (CCP) organized annual sports gala in which Director Prof Dr Saima Dawood, Dr Aisha Sitwat, faculty members and students were present. In her address, Dr Saima said that it was a busy and entertaining day for the faculty and students at CCP.

She said that students from MS, ADCP and BS arranged various stalls of eatables, jewelry items and other accessories, different indoor and outdoor competitions were also carried out which included, cricket, badminton, carom board, chess and various types of races. Students represented the colors of spring by wearing bright and colorful clothes and decorating stalls that marked the arrival of spring.

The ceremony was concluded with prize distribution to the winners of all competitions. The director appreciated efforts put forward by the faculty, students and staff members for organizing such an energetic event.

One-day training workshop on “Hands-on Training with MS Excel”

Lahore, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Department of Plant Pathology, Faculty of Agricultural Sciences, University of the Punjab, Lahore organized a one-day training workshop on “Hands-on Training with MS Excel”. The seminar started with the recitation of the Holy Quran and was attended by 73 participants from different institutes including Kinnard College, Lahore College for Women University, Minhaj University, University of Central Punjab, and University of Engineering and Technology. The chairperson of the Department of Plant Pathology, Prof. Dr. Tehmina Anjum, talked about the importance of data representation and its scope in research.

She emphasized that data representation is an essential aspect of research and can help researchers communicate their findings effectively. The technical session was conducted by Prof. Dr. Amna Shoaib, she delivered a detailed lecture on understanding and making sense of graphs, data arrangement, mean standard deviation, and standard error (SE), bar and line graphs, and applying SE on the graph. She provided hands-on training to the participants and demonstrated how to use MS Excel for data representation.

Participants were encouraged to follow along on their laptops and ask questions during the lecture. At the end of the lecture, all the questions were answered by Prof. Dr. Amna Shoaib, and the participants were given certificates of attendance. Overall, the seminar was very informative and provided participants with practical skills in data representation using MS Excel. Participants expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to learn from such knowledgeable trainers and thanked the organizers for organizing such an insightful event.

Visit of Dr. Abdul Samad, DG Directorate General of Archaeology and Museums Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Lahore, March 18, 2023 (PPI-OT): In the continuation, of Dr. Ahmad Hassan Dani’s lecture series, Department of Archaeology, University of the Punjab cordially invited Dr. Abdul Samad – Directorate General of Archaeology and Museums Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to deliver a lecture on “Latest Archaeological Researches in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Pakistan” along with other pioneer archaeologists like Dr. Saif ur Rehman Dar, Mr. Qamar Abbas, Dr. Iqbal Chawla, Mr. Asim Dogar (Director Punjab Archaeology) to put a feather in the cap.

The panel discussion was initiated when Dr. Muhammad Hameed – Chairman Department of Archaeology Punjab University briefly introduced the real sense of Archaeology with the ownership of our mother language. This exceptional event was attended by all the departmental staff, students, and faculty members with media broadcasters to cover the event.

Dr. Abdul Samad shared about his services in DOAM and what measures have been taken for the betterment of KPK Archaeology. A full-fledged presentation was made to display the excavations, conservation, and promotion works in the context of Night Tourism and the initiation of Gandharan Trails in the potential sites. The students were very much inspired by his work at such a young age. A brief question-answer session was held after which worthy Dr. Saif ur Rehman Dar shared his thoughts on the improvement of Punjab Archaeology.

In the concluding remarks, Dr. Hameed humbly thanked Dr. Abdul Samad for accepting the invitation and honour the department with his experience and knowledge while the chief guest appreciated the efforts of Dr. Hameed and assured of engaging departmental students in his future projects.
