PU organizes seminar on water resources

Lahore, March 31, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Faculty of Agricultural Sciences in collaboration with Pepsi Cola International organized an awareness seminar to mark ‘World Water Day’. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Agricultural Sciences Prof Dr Muhammad Saleem Haider, Chairman Department of Food Science Dr Shinawar Wasim, Quality Head Pepsi Cola Humaira Ubaid, Quality Manager Muhammad Shahzad Ahmed, faculty members and students were present.

In their address, the speakers highlighted the importance of water and shed light on the resources, problems and solutions for clean water. They said that the water reserves in the country are decreasing rapidly, for which measures should be taken to ensure proper use of water. He appreciated the efforts of Pepsi-Cola International for dealing with the water crisis and its role in the country’s development.

Dr Mehta calls on Governor Punjab

Lahore, March 29, 2023 (PPI-OT): Governor Punjab Chancellor Baligh ur Rehman has lauded the vision and leadership of Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance Principal Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta and assured his support for achieving institutional excellence in academia and research. According to a press release, the governor expressed these views in a meeting with Dr Mehta at Governor’s House. The governor also appreciated the efforts of HCBF management in achieving academic and research excellence.

Dr Mehta briefed the governor about the ongoing degree programs at HCBF and gave a presentation on the measures being taken not only to inculcate research culture amongst faculty and students but also to increase its graduate’s employability ratio as well as college’s infrastructure in a befitting manner.

PU HCC gets accreditation for BS and MS program

Lahore, March 29, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Hailey College of Commerce (HCC) becomes the only public sector Business School in Lahore and only Commerce College in Pakistan to receive accreditation for its BS and MS Commerce degrees. HCC Principal Prof Dr Mubbsher Munawar Khan said that NBEAC functions at the national level as an accreditation authority within its scope to facilitate enhancing the quality of business education in Pakistan. He said that all business schools before seeking international accreditation must ensure that all systems, procedures, networks and programs are able to achieve standards that are comparable with global standards and thus are required to gain NBEAC accreditation.

NBEAC has three main functions: accreditation, training and networking, he added. Dr Mubbsher Muawar Khan said that in its accreditation function, it develops and implements standards to improve the quality of business education in Pakistan. It is pertinent to mention here that HCC has received accreditation for the third time in a row, he further added.

Egyptian varsities to collaborate with Pakistan: VC Cairo University

Lahore, March 29, 2023 (PPI-OT): The vice chancellor of Cairo University, Egypt has said that Egyptian universities intend to collaborate with Pakistani universities in various research fields and want to launch mutual students-teachers exchange program. He expressed these views in a meeting with the Director of Punjab University Urdu Development and Translation Centre, Dr Zahid Munir Amir. It is pertinent to mention here that a good part of Pakistan’s foreign trade goods passes through the Suez Canal.

In 1956, contrary to the wishes of the world powers, Pakistani Prime Minister Feroze Khan Noon took a bold stand in support of Egypt, on which former Egyptian President Anwar Al-Sadat said, ‘My lost brother Pakistan has been returned to me’. These revelations have come out in the recently published travel book of Egypt, ‘Msirkhawab aur Tabeer’. The author of the book, Dr Zahid Munir Amir, has been teaching at Al-Azhar University for a long time. Before this, his Arabic book ‘Fi Hab-e-Misr’ has been published about the Muslim Brotherhood.

He is the author of fifty books on various scientific and literary topics. ‘Msirkhawab aur Tabeer’ has been published by the famous publishing house Qalam Foundation International.

Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance turns 20 years

Lahore, March 28, 2023 (PPI-OT): Punjab University Hailey College of Banking and Finance (HCBF) organized a cake cutting ceremony to celebrate its 20th foundation day. On this occasion, HCBF Principal Dr Ahmed Muneeb Mehta, faculty members, administrative staff and students were present.

In his address, Dr Mehta recalled the untiring efforts made by Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed (late) for the establishment of the college in March, 2003 and ensured that the college will leave no stone unturned in achieving further academic and research excellence. He said that the whole faculty and staff are working with full zeal and zest to actualize the vision set forth by the founder principal and the university at large.
