Allama I.I Kazi remembered on his 55th death anniversary, termed as epitome of Bhittai’s poetry

Jamshoro, April 15, 2023 (PPI-OT):Speakers on Thursday have paid glowing tributes to the founder of the University of Sindh in Jamshoro Allama Imdad Ali Imam Ali Kazi (I.I. Kazi) and eulogized his unwavering educational services on the 55th death anniversary of the great scholar. They said that Allama I.I. Kazi was the epitome of Bhittai’s poetry, adding that he left a luxurious life in London and returned home to serve his people and he ensured the construction of Sindh University in Jamshoro. This they said while talking to the media at the shrine of founder Vice-Chancellor Allama I.I. Kazi and addressing the book-launching ceremony in the Video Conference hall, Dean Faculty of Natural Sciences, University of Sindh, Jamshoro. Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro and others laid floral wreaths at Allama’s shrine. Nazar Ali Chandio recited verses from the holy Quran, while the director of the Institute of Languages Dr. Mufti Shahabad Ali Sikandari offered a collective prayer.

Later, the book of author Madad Ali Sindhi titled “Allama I.I. Kazi: Personality and Life History” was launched at a ceremony. Addressing on the occasion, SU Vice-Chancellor Professor (Meritorious) Dr Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro said that Allama’s great services in the field of higher education will always be remembered, adding that Allama Kazi was a great religious scholar who rendered unparalleled services for the establishment of Sindh University. He said that Allama I.I. Kazi used to teach people about Islam with the help of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s poems and would give weekly lectures on various subjects for the enhancement of knowledge and understanding of the youth.

He said although Allama led a simple life, yet he strongly believed in discipline and punctuality. “The existence of Sindh University and all the academic facilities being provided today are the result of the efforts of our founder VC, who brought higher education to the people of Sindh”, Dr Kalhoro said and added that when Sindh University was shifted from Karachi to Hyderabad, it had no building, facility or budget, therefore, he [Allama Kazi] had to start from zero and made the history for his consistency and hard working.

“Due to his efforts, the government allocated Rs 50,000 as an annual budget for the university in those days”, the VC said. He said that Allama I.I Kazi was a simple but principled person who never compromised on the progress and growth of the varsity. Author Madad Ali Sindhi said that Allama I.I. Kazi always urged the students and scholars to ensure discipline and work hard in order to achieve their goals in life. “He was always ready to meet students and scholars and guide them”, he said and added that writing a book on Allama Kazi was aiming at paying him a rich tribute as he contributed to the development of Sindh. “All those people who served Sindh in one way or another should be paid tribute by writing books on their lives”, he said.

Madad Ali Sindhi said that the first Vice-Chancellor of Sindh University was A.B. Haleem, but after shifting the university from Karachi to Hyderabad, A.B. Haleem was appointed as the VC of Karachi University, while Allama Kazi was appointed as the head of Sindh University. “I think G.M Syed might have singled out Allama I.I. Kazi for Vcship at SU”, he maintained and added that after his death in April 1968, no one celebrated his first death anniversary in 1969, on which he claimed G.M. Syed expressed sorrow and grief and he along with his friends assured G.M Syed to mark the day from the next year in 1970 and since then Allama Kazi was being remembered every year. SU Larkana campus PVC Dr. Azhar Ali Shah said that the first department of education was established in Sindh University in 1951, with the aim of producing teachers.

He said that the country had recently been brought into being mere 4 years back’ therefore, Pakistan needed teachers and Allama Kazi materialized it with his vision. He said that after the establishment of the education department, first M.Ed., and then B.Ed. was started at SU. Dr Shah further said that after the Department of Education, Allama launched the Department of Islamic culture as he believed that the country was established on the basis of Islam, consequently the establishment of the department was indispensable. Speaking on the book written by Madad Ali Sindhi about Allama Kazi, Amar Sindhu demanded that the author had conducted research on the personality and life of Allama Kazi, therefore, he should be awarded an honorary degree of Ph.D.

Chairman, Department of Sindhi, University of Karachi University and renowned writer Dr. Sher Mehrani and Shaukat Ujjan endorsed Amar Sindhu’s demand. At the juncture, Dr. Muhammad Khan Sangi, Dr. Makhmour Bukhari and others also addressed. A number of students and teachers were present in the event.

2nd International Youth Entrepreneur’s Summit 2023 concludes at SUCL with call for business angels and technopreneurship

Jamshoro, March 17, 2023 (PPI-OT): Pakistan may achieve economic growth and stability if the concept of business angles and technopreneurship is introduced at grassroots level with proper coordination of business entrepreneurs, academics and government. This was the major point of focus at the concluding session of the 2nd International Youth Entrepreneurs’ Summit 2023 held at the main auditorium hall, Sindh University Campus Larkano.

Speaking as the Key Note speaker SUCL Pro Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Azhar Ali Shah said that Europe and other advanced countries are taking benefit of business angles who are successful business persons in their respective field with plenty of resources along with skills and experience and they invest part of their assets and experience to help the young entrepreneurs establish new business creating more employment opportunities and also once established they themselves become the business angles creating an infinite wave of entrepreneurs growth. Dr Shah said that government needs to introduce policies and incentives to create business angel environment across the country.

Dr Majid Buledi from Turkey talked about entrepreneur’s digital path: towards successful business establishment. Dr Buledi explained the technopreneurship Process for designing developing and integrating technology tools in business. He talked about impact of mobile phones on business and cited Facebook, Instagram, Youtube, ChatGPT and Advertising on TV for digital marketing.

During the penal discussion Mr Ahmed Ali Shaikh President Chamber of Commerce Larkano invited all business students to coordinate with chamber of commerce for all sort of help required to establish new business. He said that this event be held every year for the guidance of youth. Our youth is facing big problem regarding employment opportunities. Youth may search for job but should start the side business as well. For successful business you need to be member of chamber of commerce and conduct business as per national and international standards. Youth may apply globally to be part of multinational business organizations.

Dr Masiullah Jatoi, Professor of Management Sciences from Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur said that our youth have to engage in business in such a way to change their surrounding environment and be an inspiration for other entrepreneurs. He urged the government to provide financial support for youth entrepreneurs. Such support shall create job opportunities for others transforming our society towards prosperity. Youth has multiple potentials and they need support from family, friends and senior entrepreneurs. At present Pakistan is at 136 number in terms of entrepreneurship and this situation may be improved with collective efforts.

Ms Naghma Mazari, Incharge Women Protection Cell Larkano encouraged female youth to engage as entrepreneurs because government is providing all sorts of services needed for safe and secure environment. Mr Liaquat Ali Shaikh CEO ARY Jewellers Larkano said that we are witnessing the digital era and technology has always been enabler for growth of entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurship is something that all of us must focus on as an immediate means for financial growth and stability of our family and society. Irrespective of our education and qualification we all may engage in entrepreneurship as it’s based on learning by doing.

Mr Vishal Parchani CEO Moon Electronics Larkano said that youth must move forward from their comfort zone and be ready for taking risks. The more the risk you take the more the benefit. Start with anything meagre that is in your approach. All big business and companies started out of nothing with very little investment and resources and now they are operating globally. Mr Abdul Wahid Shaikh Vice President Chamber of Commerce Larkano said that future of entrepreneurship is going to be more and more online. Universities should coordinate with SMEDA to help the youth deploy their business plans. He offered provision of training and help for young entrepreneurs specially girls.

The concluding session was moderated by Head of Business Department Mr Ghulam Mustafa Shaikh with the help of Ms Shagufta Shaikh, Mr Ali Mustafa Abro, Mr Athar Ali and Chief Organisers including Mr Abdullah Tunio, Shafiq Soomro, Sheharyar Abbasi, Alam Khan, Hina, Muskan, Sania, Aleeza and others.

2nd International Youth Entrepreneurs’ Summit 2k23 held at Sindh University Campus Larkano

Jamshoro, March 16, 2023 (PPI-OT): Following is the text of press release issued by University of SindhIn order to educate, train and inspire the youth to overcome the barriers and sieze the opportunities for the betterment of themselves and for the betterment of the country, the Department of Business Administration, Sindh University Campus Larkano organized 2nd International Youth Entrepreneurs’ Summit 2k23 here at the main Auditorium Hall. The Summit was presided by Pro Vice Chancellor Sindh University Campus Larkano Prof Dr Azhar Ali Shah and it was jointly inaugurated with Deputy Commissioner Larkano Ms Rabia Siyal, Summit Director Mr Ghulam Mustafa Shaikh, Ms Shagufta Shaikh, Mr Ali Mustafa Abro and Chief Organizers Sharyar Abbasi, Alam Khuhawar, Shafiq Soomro, Abdullah Tunio, Aliza Shaikh, Sania Rashdi, Sumia Brohi, Tayaba and others.

Prof Dr Azhar Ali Shah and Ms Rabia Siyal visited all the business shops and discussed the innovation and optimization to transform the conventional business to entrepreneurship so as to be able for self-employment as well as create jobs for others. Dr Mir Dost who holds PhD in Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management from AIT Thailand and currently serving as a Professor of Entrepreneurship and Management at Al-Maktoum College of Higher

Education, UK, talked about Hybrid Entrepreneurship. He described the bright and flip sides of entrepreneurship. He encouraged the youth to go for business approach rather to emphasis on dark sides of the life. He talked about enablers, potential barriers, and outcomes of the hybrid entrepreneurship. Mr Sunny Rawlani, CEO D-Nova said that for successful business things must be simple, we must know the simple math, the revenue should me more than expenses, for achieving that we must have vision to convert it, that vision must match the market and should be problem solving. When we have all this we can execute it and be consistent to make it grow. Time will come when we will hit the market.

Prof Ali Nawaz Soomro from Shah Abdul Latif University expressed that our youth need to be confidant and if the experience of seniors and passion of youth works together then the future of institutions, society as well as state shall be definitely bright. Ms Nehrish Shaikh said that being mother of two children she manages house as well office work as HR Head at a private organization. For a successful role we have to motivate our family as well as office environment. Role of the head of family and organization is important for provision of safe environment for working women. She said that during her stay at Malaysia she witnessed female taxi drivers. It’s all about the confidence.

Ms Dhanak Yousif said that due to lack of knowledge minority communities face some issues in the Society. We need to create awareness among the youth regarding various affirmative action’s being implemented by the government and other organizations which are aimed at promoting respect and support for diversity leading towards tolerance and inclusion.

Prof Jam Jamali quoted Sindhi adage “Utam Kheti, Wadhandar Wapar” saying that business and trade is also promoted by Shah Latif he talks about Wanjaro as business and trade hero. He said that we are business community and business nation but we need to follow ethics not to be hoarders and exploiters. Latif teaches and appreciates this ethics. Business is the future of our youth. creating peaceful, progressive and prosperous society.

Jamshoro, March 10, 2023 (PPI-OT): On the occasion of the 771st Urs of Hazrat Lal Qalandar Shahbazrah, the Allama II Qazi campus of Sindh University will also remain closed after the announcement of a public holiday in Jamshori district on March 13, 2023 by the district administration. In this regard, Registrar Dr. Ghulam Muhammad Bhutto has also issued such a notification.

Workshop on “Importance of Civic Education for Students of Schools and Universities” at University of Sindh 

Jamshoro, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):A workshop was organized by the Department of Social Work of the University of Sindh, Jamshoro, in collaboration with the Center for Research and Dialogue, under the theme “Importance of Civic Education for Students of Schools and Universities”, which was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Hamadullah. Cockpit did. Dr. Humayun Khan, Prof. Dr. Bashir Memon, Nizam Nizami, Dr. Syed Faisal Haider Shah and others participated in the workshop.

The workshop consisted of three sessions. Dr. Imran Ali Sandana presented his speech under the title of “Citizenship, Constitution and Society”. He spoke about the importance of citizenship and the role of the Constitution in promoting democracy, justice and equality. He emphasized the need for the students to understand their rights and responsibilities as citizens and participate in the democratic process.

The second session was held by Sabukh Syed, Chairman of Digital Media Alliance Pakistan, who spoke on “How to live in a religious, linguistic, social and political society?” Speak below. He highlighted the need for students to know about different cultures and religions in order to foster a broader perspective and promote harmony in society. The third session was held by Syed Abbas Ali Shah, who spoke about “the importance of understanding the interdependence between society and the individual” and how people can contribute to the betterment of society.

After the three sessions, Dr. Syed Faisal Haider Shah addressed and said that civil education is of great importance in promoting democracy, social justice and human rights in the country. He urged the students to use their knowledge and skills to promote social and political change in the society. Before that, students of madrassas and universities participated in the workshop.

Vice-Chancellor, University of Sindh Distributed Award Letters Among Benazir Scholarship Phase-3 Awardees 

Jamshoro, February 21, 2023 (PPI-OT):The University of Sindh held a ceremony on Monday, February 20, 2023, at the Senate Hall, Ac2 Building, to distribute award letters among the Benazir Scholarship Phase-3 awardees. The ceremony was presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Sindh, Prof. (Meritorious) Dr. Muhammad Siddique Kalhoro, who distributed the award letters among the deserving students.

The Benazir Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship program offered by the Government of Pakistan to financially assist students from lower-income backgrounds who demonstrate academic excellence. The scholarship is named after the former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, who strongly advocated for education and women’s rights.

In his address at the ceremony, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Kalhoro congratulated the scholarship awardees and emphasized the importance of education in promoting economic development and social progress. He said, “Education is the most powerful tool to fight poverty and achieve social mobility. The University of Sindh is committed to providing quality education to all deserving students, regardless of their financial background.”
