Under the International Institute of Online Education Program Agreement signed between UE and UET to enhance online and blended teaching and learning skills of teachers

Lahore, June 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):Yesterday, an agreement was signed between the University of Education, Lahore and the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore to enhance the online and blended pedagogical skills of teachers and bring the teaching system in line with modern requirements. The IIOE program launched in Pakistan in collaboration with UNESCO, is initiated by the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE). The agreement was formally signed by the Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) and the Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar at a ceremony held at the Township Campus of the University.

Under the agreement, teachers serving in higher education institutions will be trained in online and blended teaching so that they can provide education and training to students keeping in view the requirements of the time. In addition, the main objective of the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) is to make developing countries like Pakistan realize the achievement of the educational targets set for 2030, to increase international cooperation in higher education, quality education and educational trends.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that humanity is facing complex challenges at present but modern technology as an effective tool can be used to combat them. Emerging Educational technology has gained a special place in the field of education as well as in various spheres of life, because through it the teaching system can continue uninterrupted, a glimpse of which we saw in the days of Corona epidemic.

“During the Corona epidemic, online education saved the world from a major educational catastrophe, so there is a great need for our teachers to enhance their teaching skills through modern technology,” he added. This program is of great importance under the supervision of the University of Education and UET, Lahore. On the occasion, Vice Chancellor, University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore Prof. Dr. Syed Mansoor Sarwar said that under the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) program this agreement is of great importance. The University of Education has a special place in the country in terms of teacher education and training.

“So, I strongly hope that the very positive results of this program will be achieved through the University of Education and its dynamic leadership Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I)” he added. It should be noted that under the International Institute of Online Education (IIOE) program, there was an Online Courses Competition-Courseware, in which more than 200 teachers from 45 countries of Asia Pacific participated. According to the results of this competition, under the supervision of Dr. Aisha Mahmood, Faculty Member, University of Education, M.Phil Scholars Sadia Nawaz and Qaratulain Sarwat won “first” and “special” positions respectively.

UE organized seminar titled “Promoting Youth Leadership in Universities” 

Lahore, May 12, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Education, Lahore Toastmasters organized a seminar on “Promoting Youth Leadership in Universities” at Main Campus on May 12, 2022, which was chaired by Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.). The guest speaker was Vice Chancellor, Government College University, Lahore Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi (T.I.). President UE Toastmasters Dr. Humaira Irfan briefed the audience regarding objective and mission of Toastmasters and seminar.

While addressing the seminar, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that of course our young generation is not less than anyone in terms of abilities, the only need is to provide them guidance and opportunities. About 65% of the population of Pakistan consists of youth who is going to run the country in the near future, so it is very important to develop leadership skills in them. He said that enthusiasm in youth is a natural thing but it is necessary to keep this spirit in the right direction.

Speaking on the occasion, the guest speaker Vice Chancellor, Government College University, Lahore Prof. Dr. Asghar Zaidi (T.I.) said that our universities, which are responsible for the development of ideas, innovation and modern science and art, is also responsible for fostering positive thinking and leadership skill in students. He said that countries and nations need new leadership in every age, which is the responsibility of the society and universities are playing their role in this regard.

At the end of the seminar, Director Division of Arts and Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Waheed ur Rehman thanked all the participants including the guest speaker. A large number of students and faculty members were also present on the occasion.

UE Lucky Draw: 2 Employees will perform Umrah

Lahore, April 30, 2022 (PPI-OT):University of Education announced to send two of its employees for performing Umrah after a lucky draw held here at main Campus on April 28, 2022. Ms. Gulnaz Atta Lecturer from UE DG Khan Campus and Muhammad Fiyyaz Rashid Security Guard from UE Vehari Campus were declared lucky. According to the Umrah package policy, one lucky person will be selected from BS-01 to BS-15 and one from BS-16 to above and complete package of Umrah will be given to lucky winners.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) congratulated to the lucky employees who selected for Umrah and said that of course attending Roza-e-Rasool (PBUH) and Khana Kaba is a great wish of any Muslim and to fulfill this desire, the University of Education sends its two employees to perform Umrah every year. The Vice-Chancellor hoped that the employees who were declared lucky through lottery would pray for the betterment and development of not only themselves, the University but also for our beloved country.

UE organized a seminar and panel discussion on “Let’s Payback, Industry-Academia Linkages” at Main Campus 

Lahore, April 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):A seminar and Panel Discussion on “Let’s Payback, Industry-Academia Linkages” was organized at the Main Campus of University of Education, Lahore on April 19,2022, in which renowned Trainers and Professionals participated. Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that the prevailing concepts of education and training have changed immensely in modern times. Universities today can be the best tool for the industrial, social and economic development for any country.

Strong links between the industrial and educational sectors are an important means of tackling economic challenges, so co-operation between educational institutions and industries is essential for the country to move on new paths of development. He said that it was the responsibility of the universities to take a step forward and establish links with industry, on the other hand the industrialists and the government should also support the universities to promote the culture of research and development. The Vice Chancellor said that students, entrepreneurs, engineers and economic planners should adapt to the requirements of modern times.

Addressing the seminar, the guest speakers said that relations between universities and industries are an integral part of national development and prosperity. Future development depends on how strong the scientific and technical link between universities and industries. They said that in order to achieve this goal, all the universities would have to partner with the local industries of their areas and contribute to its development efforts and the University of Education, Lahore deserves congratulations in this regard. The Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Arshad also addressed the seminar.

Hassan Raza, Leading HR Consultant, Arshad Ali, Manager HR PEL, Saba Chaudhry, Supply Chain Professional NESTLE, Haroon Akhtar CHRO OZi Technologies and Miraj Nadeem, Joint Director HR PITB were also present on the occasion. In the end, Dr. Shahzada Qaiser, Director Research, University of Education thanked the participants of the Seminar and Panel Discussion.

Meanwhile, Directorate of Student Counselling Center, University of Education, Lahore organized an awareness session on Fulbright Scholarship and other Exchange Programs offered by the US Consulate General, Lahore, in which the US Consulate General, Lahore Education Advisor Public Diplomacy Section Ms. Sumayya Tariq and Cultural Affairs Assistant Exchange Ms. Attiya Batool provided full guidance to the participants and students regarding Fulbright Scholarship and other Exchange Programs. At the end, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) thanked the participants of the session. Dr. Ahsan Bashir, Director Student Counselling Center and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

UE and Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, China signed an agreement of Joint Doctoral and Master Training Programs

Lahore, April 22, 2022 (PPI-OT):An agreement of Joint Doctoral and Master Training Programs has been signed between University of Education and Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, China to strengthen ties between the two institutions which might lead in future to the establishment of more partnership agreements for exchange purposes and academic co-operation in the field of History, Arts and Cultural heritage.

According to the agreement, both the parties agreed to set up separate office in each University. A joint training office will be established at UOE Lahore Pakistan and a research center for history, arts and cultural heritage will be set in Suzhou China for better communication and corporation in the PhD and M.Phil. This program is for the enrollment of Chinese students and Pakistani Students. The number of recruited PhD students does not exceed 25 person each year. M.Phil. students including master-doctor combined, will not exceed 40 person each year.

HBAFA will be responsible for the examination and recruitment of Chinese students as per their university rules. After admission, University of Education will review the qualifications and issue the official admission notice and assist the students’ visa application. UE will issue degree to the Chinese students as per HEC and UE rules and regulation. This program has a basic academic system of four years for PhD students and two years for MPhil students and five years for the combined both MPhil and PhD students.

The Chinese students undergo the first three semesters (1.5 years) study at UE under the direction of UE supervisors and continue the rest study at HBAFA under the direction of supervisors from HBAFA. They will organize conferences /Seminars /Symposiums /joint trainings, summer-winter camps and Joint Research projects for students. The agreement was signed by the Vice Chancellor University of Education, Lahore Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer pasha (S.I.) and Chairman Hebei Academy of Fine Arts, Mr. Zhen Zhongyi. Chairperson, Department of History and Arts, University of Education, Dr. Muhammad Abrar Ahmad and others were also present on the occasion.

10th Annual International Conference on Education Kicked Off at UE 

Lahore, April 02, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 10th International Conference on “Education and Teaching in Times of Uncertainty: Preparing for the Future” kicked off at University of Education, Lahore Main Campus here on April 01, 2022. The Conference, which runs from April 1, 2022 to April 8, 2022, is being attended by eminent academics, scholars and teachers from across Pakistan, along with the United Kingdom and Australia. During the 8-day international conference, 75 research papers will be presented by researchers. The Chief Guest at the inaugural ceremony was Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen, the Vice Chancellor, University of Home Economics while Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.), Vice Chancellor, University of Education, Lahore presided over the ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof. Dr. Kanwal Ameen, the Vice Chancellor, University of Home Economics said that the University of Education, Lahore has once again proved its uniqueness by holding this international Conference on Education. She said that of course no nation or country can develop without education and an excellent system is required for the promotion and development of education, for which higher education institutions have to come forward to meet the objective.

The responsibility of higher education institutions is not only to provide education but also to play their active role in promoting education and improving the education system through modern research. Welcoming the participants of the conference, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha (S.I.) said that the theme of this year’s conference is very important because of the challenges that the world may face in future. The solution lies in the development of education and research.

Undoubtedly, the better future of the world depends on continuous research and development on the basis of research and development in education. The Vice Chancellor said that through the said international conference, an attempt has been made to provide a platform to educationists from all over the world, including Pakistan, through which the problems facing the education sector could be solved in future. Chief organizer of the Conference Director, Division of Education, Dr. Ayaz Khan and others also addressed the ceremony. A large number of personalities from different walks of life including students were also present on the occasion.
