Lahore, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):University of Management and Technology (UMT) held its 24th Convocation 2023 at the Expo Center, Lahore. Total 1389 graduates were given degrees in the various disciplines on this occasion. According to the details 827 Bachelors, 126 Masters, 405 MS/MPhil and 31 PhD degrees were conferred.

Furthermore, 13 Patron’s Gold Medals, 12 Rector’s Silver Medals, 02 Rector’s Academic Excellence Awards Gold Medals, 01 Certificate of Excellence, 01 UMT Best Teacher Award along with cash prize of Rs. 100,000, 08 UMT Best School Teacher Awards along with cash prize of Rs. 25,000 each, 07 University Level Best Researcher Awards, 07 School Level Best Researcher Awards and 08 Research Publication Awards for MS/MPhil students were given away on the occasion.

Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza in his welcome address expressed his gratitude to the Chief Guest Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman (Governor Punjab) for gracing the convocation with his presence. Dr. Asif Raza whole heartedly congratulated the graduating students, their parents and the UMT faculty and acknowledged their hard work and dedication. During his speech, he highlighted the various milestones achieved by UMT and commended the vision of Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad Shaheed. He praised the efforts of UMT leadership, faculty and management in helping UMT become the leading private sector university in the country and one of the top 600 universities globally. I urge you to use your knowledge and skills to create positive change in your communities and contribute to the betterment of society, said Dr. Asif Raza.

Muhammad Balighur Rehman, Governor Punjab and Patron UMT congratulated all the graduates and appreciated their hard work, resilience and perseverance. He said that it is an honor for me to witness the 24th convocation of the UMT. Mr. Governor highlighted that our achievements are due to the teamwork and support of many people around us and we should be grateful to them, especially our parents and teachers.

He further expressed that UMT has provided you with an enabling environment and commendable management. Advising the graduates, Mr. Balighur Rehman said that the recipe for success includes a clear vision, strong character and moral values, constant improvement and patience. Along with the degree good character is needed to climb the ladder of success, he added. He also stressed that the graduates must have tolerance and respect for every human irrespective of their caste or designation. At the end I would like to express my appreciation to the efforts of Ibrahim Murad, Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza, Dr Omar Murad and the entire UMT Family in making the vision of Dr Hasan Murad (shaheed) successful and making UMT one of the top universities of the world.

Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Minister Local Government and Community Development Department, Punjab, Member Board of Governors UMT/ILM Trust gave a warm welcome to the chief guest, Governor of Punjab Mr. Balighur Rehman and extended his heartiest felicitations to all the attendees of the 24th convocation. He highlighted that it is the devotion and hard work of participants that have bestowed UMT all the successes. He expressed that the convocation is actually a distinguished marker of being on the right path. Our nation has failed to realize its true potential and we as a nation need to focus on self-accountability as instructed in the Holy Quran, Mr. Ibrahim Murad added.

Addressing the graduates, the minister shared that UMT has strived hard to provide them with the best knowledge along with justice, discipline and hard work. In his concluding remarks, he instructed the graduates to be the gatekeepers of the values of justice and discipline and pass them on to the next generation. Mr. Murad also stressed that our youth needs to serve our communities, societies, religion and the country. Ibrahim Hasan Murad, Minister Local Government and Community Development, Member Board of Governors UMT/ILM Trust presented a special souvenir to Governor Punjab Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman. Rector UMT Dr Asif Raza, DG UMT Abid Sherwani and Registrar UMT Saleem Ata were also present on the occasion.

Lahore, March 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): Dr Hasan Murad School of Management (HSM) at the University of Management and Technology (UMT) organized a two-day doctoral conference on sustainable development goals and doctoral research. Prof Dr Shahid Munir, Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission (PHEC) was the chief guest of the conference.

 

Dean Dr Hasan Murad School of Management Dr Naveed Yazdani, Dr Mujahid Kamran, Dr Farrah Arif, VC University of Education Professor Talat Naseer Pasha, Fatima Asad Said, national and international experts, researchers and scholars including large number of faculty and students also attended the doctoral conference.

 

More than 31 research papers on development goals and the latest trends in doctoral research were presented at the conference. Addressing the conference, Dean HSM Dr Naveed Yazdani welcomed all the guests and shared how important it is to hold such conferences to resolve the current challenges. He emphasized the importance of doctoral research in shaping the future of management.

 

Prof Dr Shahid Munir, Chairperson Punjab Higher Education Commission while addressing the conference congratulated the team of HSM and the management of UMT for organizing a successful conference. Dr Shahid Munir, highlighting the challenges faced, said that the solution to all our local and national problems depends on modern doctoral research.

 

He said that unless we spread the culture of research in our educational institutions and other departments, the goals of sustainable development cannot be met. He added that promoting collaboration through research in both academia and industry has become the need of the hour.

 

Other speakers engaged in lively discussions and debates, sharing their experiences and insights with the audience. They all agreed that only through research can we find solutions to all the challenges and meet sustainable development goals. At the end of the session, Dr Naveed Yazdani along with Dr. Farrah presented souvenirs to Prof. Dr. Shahid Munir and other guests.

Lahore, February 22, 2023 (PPI-OT):School of Food and Agricultural Sciences (SFAS) organized the first two-day international conference on emerging trends in functional foods and Neutraceuticals. Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza, Director General UMT Professor Abid Sherwani, President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan Kashif Anwar, Professor Dr. M. Iqbal Chaudhry and Dean School of Food and Agricultural Sciences Dr. Nauman Khalid specially participated in the conference.

A large number of scholars, researchers, faculty and students were also present on this occasion. More than 30 research papers on food science topics were also presented at the conference. Dean SFAS Dr. Nauman Khalid welcomed all the speakers and guests and thanked them for their participation. He said that in the current situation, we have to solve the challenges related to organic food and the purpose of this conference is to bring experts and researchers together for the best solution.

President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Pakistan Kashif Anwar, while expressing his views, said that UMT is doing the development of the country and the nation in the real sense by organizing conferences on such important topics. He said that we have to improve our food industry which will not only improve the health conditions of the people but also improve domestic exports. He said that we have to reduce the rate of diseases in people through functional foods.

Director General UMT Professor Abid Sherwani thanked the scholars and researchers for joining the conference. He said that we have to develop more in this sector in view of the emerging trends of functional foods. Professor Abid said that we have to take our industry of 100 million to 1 billion so that we can improve the health of the nation and stop the spread of various diseases through functional and Neutraceuticals.

Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza while addressing the audience congratulated Dean Dr. Nauman Khalid and his team for organizing a successful conference. He said that we need to innovatively upgrade the food industry keeping in view the emerging trends in functional foods and Neutraceuticals.

Dr. Asif further said that more research needs to be done in the food sector so that not only quality food can be provided to the people but also the country’s economy can improve. He suggested future collaborative efforts with the industry for developing novel and innovative solutions to address malnutrition and community health. At the end of the ceremony, Rector UMT Dr. Asif Raza and Prof. Abid Sherwani also presented souvenirs to Kashif Anwar and Dr. M. Iqbal.

Lahore, February 22, 2023 (PPI-OT):UMT Sports Department has achieved another milestone by winning the overall 3rd Position Trophy during “HEC All-Pakistan Intervarsity Gymnastic (Men) Championship” held on February 17-19, 2023 at Government College University (GCU), Lahore. This was the first time UMT prepared the men gymnastics team that actively participated in the HEC competition and performed extraordinarily amongst the rival universities.
