FoLL has signed a MoU with Deaf Reach, Family Educational Services Foundation, and Pakistan 

Lahore, February 02, 2023 (PPI-OT):Faculty of Languages and Literature has signed a MoU with Family Educational Services Foundation (FESF), Pakistan for their project of Deaf Reach on 24th January, 2023. Mr. Daniel Marc Lengthier, Director Operations FESF and Dean FoLL, Dr. Fehmeeda Sultana signed this MoU.

FESF is a charitable organization with a focus on the empowerment of disadvantaged deaf children and youth through a holistic approach to deaf education, skills training, job placement, and sign language development – creating lasting change in their lives and that of their families. Both organisations agree the following scope of the understanding:

Placements of UCP students and faculty in Family Educational Services Foundation for a period of 1-2 weeks or more for exposure, and to assist in R and D across various departments etc. Provision of consultancy services in multiple domains.

Assigning small-scaled industrial problems as final year projects to UCP students.

Interaction of representatives of Family Educational Services Foundation with UCP students and faculty through talks on various topics including innovation, career options, etc.

Collaborative research studies and projects in various domains of mutual interest.

Sponsoring and organizing joint research conferences at national and international levels.

Design and conduct specialized training programs by UCP for Family Educational Services Foundation’s staff in multidisciplinary areas for capacity building (under the ambit of its Professional Development Centre’s practices.

Family Educational Services Foundation to invite UCP students on industrial visits on regular basis.

United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime-Ethical Ambassador Training Program in Collaboration with UCP, Faculty of Law

Lahore, February 01, 2023 (PPI-OT):Faculty of law in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) has conducted the Ethical Ambassador Training Program Cohort 2. The inaugural and orientation session was held on 12th January, 2023.

Ms. Juhaida Hanano, Criminal Justice Advisor, UNODC Country Office Pakistan, Mr. Florian Lair, Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer at UNODC Headquarters, Austria, Ms. Sibrina D Andrea, Associate Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice Officer at UNODC, Syed Ijaz Qutub, Ex-additional Dist. and Sessions Judge and Senior Advocate Lahore High Court, Mr. Abu-Bakr Nauman Kazi, Deputy Prosecutor General Punjab, Prof. Syed Hussain Haider, Chairman Pakistan Institute of Human Rights, Pro-Rector UCP, Dr. Nassar Ikram and Dr. Hadia Awan, Dean Faculty of Law attended the inauguration session.

UNODC’s Ethical Ambassador Training Program is part of its Global Integrity Education Introduced in Kenya, Mexico and Pakistan as a pilot project. The program is focused on the implementation of Integrity Education programs to foster ethical-decision making.

The program includes modules on integrity, ethics and anti-corruption and the trained graduates become the ethics ambassadors at their workplaces to support the development of anti-corruption programs. In Cohort 2 of EATP, students from Faculty of Law (UCP), Lahore University of Management sciences (LUMS) and University of Lahore (UoL) are taking part. The training of Cohort 1 was conducted last year from the platform of UCP Faculty of Management Sciences.

During the inaugural session, the speakers underscored the need of ethical training of the future leaders since the ethical decisions of the leaders lay the foundation for the organizations to flourish and maintain trustworthy reputation.

Representatives from the UNODC Headquarters, Austria and from the country office Pakistan thanked UCP Faculty of Law and the trainers for taking on the challenge of ethically training the future leaders of the public and private sector and expressed their hopes that this training will encourage the participants to play their role in the society to eliminate corruption. The inauguration was followed by the orientation training workshop for participants. This is an exhaustive training, hybrid in nature; consisting of one-week on campus sessions and one-week virtual sessions followed by an exam.

The one-week on campus sessions concluded on 21st January, 2023 in which trainers from legal fraternity, Judiciary and Corporate world were invited. The virtual session started from 24th January, 2023. The successful students will be certified as UNODC Ethical Ambassadors and will be placed with different corporations/companies as interns.

Employee Engagement Initiative by UCP

Lahore, January 30, 2023 (PPI-OT):As part of its employee engagement initiative, the first town hall for employees of Faculty of Management Sciences was held at UCP. This is part of a series of meetings with the faculties and directorates with the intent to connect with the employees to build a more synergized team and a thriving performance-oriented workplace culture at UCP.

The session was addressed by Dr. Nassar Ikram, Pro-Rector UCP, Ms. Wajiha Ally, Director HR, and Dr. Athar Siddiqui, Dean FoMS. The interactive session was attended by the entire faculty and staff of the UCP Business School along with the Directors and Administrative Heads.

Mechanical Engineering Department organised a seminar on Engineering Projects in WASA and Government jobs for Engineers

Lahore, January 26, 2023 (PPI-OT):Mechanical Engineering Department and Society of Mechanical Engineers (SME-UCP) organized a seminar on “Engineering Projects in WASA and Government Jobs for Engineers”. Mr. Ahmad Husnain, Deputy Director WASA was a presenter of this seminar who is also a UCP alumnus, graduated in 2015. The water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) is responsible for planning, designing, constructing the water supply and drainage systems.

The session emphasized on how engineering designs and schemes helps in providing the safe and reliable supply of water. Prospects of jobs for engineers in government sector especially in WASA were also discussed.

FoLL arranged a training workshop for the Teachers of S.M Group of School (non-profit organisation) on Reading Strategies and Assessment Techniques 

Lahore, January 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):Faculty of Language and Literature (FoLL) through its Social Works Committee organized a training workshop for the teachers of S.M Group of School on Reading Strategies and Assessment Techniques. This school is a non-profit organization, with the motto of Education for All, working for more than two decades. The event was attended by more than 25 teachers.

The English department has taken an initiative to impart quality education, to address the issue of poverty in different dimensions. Teacher training in low-budget schools in low-income areas is one of the steps toward achieving the set aim.

The UCP Business School and The Entrepreneurship Club organised an Entrepreneurship Roadshow 

Lahore, January 23, 2023 (PPI-OT):The UCP Business School and The Entrepreneurship Club of UCP conducted Entrepreneurship Roadshow to promote entrepreneurship among students and provide a platform for them to pitch their ideas and receive feedback.

The roadshow included guest speakers, workshops, and pitch competitions. The goal of the roadshow was to inspire and support students who were interested in starting their businesses and provide them with the resources and knowledge they needed to succeed.

By participating in the event, students were able to connect with like-minded individuals, learn from successful entrepreneurs, and get valuable insights on how to turn their ideas into reality. Overall, the entrepreneurship roadshow was an excellent opportunity for students to learn about entrepreneurship’s challenges and rewards and develop the skills and confidence they needed to pursue their entrepreneurial dreams.
