PRCS donates US dollars 50,000 for Turkiye earthquake victims

Islamabad, February 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan Red Crescent Society has donated a generous sum of US dollars 50,000 to the Turkish Embassy in Pakistan, for the relief and recovery of Turkiye earthquake victims. The donation cheque was presented by Chairman PRCS Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari to the Ambassador of Turkiye, Dr. Mehmet Pachachi in a simple ceremony held in Turkish Embassy here on Tuesday.

Speaking on this occasion, Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari said that PRCS has stood with the people of Turkiye in this hour of grief and distress and would do all possible cooperation and support for the relief and recovery of the earthquake victims.

Chairman PRCS expressed heartfelt condolences to the brotherly Turkish people on the tragic loss of life and destruction of property caused by the earthquake in Turkiye. He said that Turkiye and Pakistan are brothers and both has always stood side by side through thick and thin. He said Pakistan-Turkiye partnership is destined to remain a vital factor in the peace, stability and progress of our two peoples in an increasingly turbulent world.

Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari said that PRCS doors are always open for the Turkish brothers, he also offered to send a response team to Turkiye. On this occasion, the Ambassador of Turkey, Dr. Mehmet Pachachi, thanked the PRCS for giving the relief donation and said that we appreciate this initiative and salute the passion and sincerity of the leadership of Red Crescent. Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari also recorded his comments on the condolence book kept in the embassy.

PRCS donates $25,000 for Syrian Earthquake Victims 

Karachi, February 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):PRCS Chairman Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari expressed his grief and sorrow over the destruction and casualties; assured all possible support on behalf of Red Crescent to help the Syrian earthquake victims. Syrian Ambassador Dr. Ramez Alraee expressed his gratitude for the assistance and cooperation, calling Pakistan his second home; Requested for the supply of medical equipment to save the lives of the injured.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Red Crescent Society has donated a generous sum of $ 25,000 to the Syrian Embassy in Pakistan for the relief and recovery of Syrian earthquake victims. PRCS Chairman Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari handed over a donation cheque of 25,000 dollars to Syrian Ambassador Dr. Ramez Alraee at Syrian Embassy here on Wednesday.

Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari also recited Fatiha for the victims and expressed his grief and sorrow over the destruction and casualties caused by the earthquake. Secretary General PRCS Muhammad Abidullah Khan was also present on this occasion. Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari, while assuring all possible cooperation, said that the doors of PRCS are always open for Syrian brethren.” It is not possible to fight natural calamity, but we are with Syria in this hour of sorrow and trouble”, he added.

Syrian Ambassador Dr. Ramez Alraee expressed his gratitude for the assistance and cooperation, calling Pakistan his second home. He also requested for the supply of medical equipment to save the lives of the injured. PRCS and ICRC organized a peer-to-peer exchange workshop with Australian Red Cross on immigration detention in Karachi

Karachi, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):A delegate of Immigration Detention from the Australian Red Cross (ARC), Hannah Jakubenko, and officials from the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) and National Headquarters (NHQ) of the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) visited the Sindh Branch of the PRCS and organized a peer-to-peer exchange workshop from February 6-8, 2023, in Karachi.

According to the press release, the workshop’s purpose was to give exposure to the staff of the Restoring Family Links (RFL) program working in immigration detention, particularly about contemporary tools, techniques, and skills, and raise their level of protection work in Sindh prisons. Speaking to attendees, Hanna said immigration detention services focus on preventing and minimizing harm and suffering to people in detention.

The Australian Red Cross has been providing services to people in immigration detention in Australia for over thirty years now. She added that ARC is still the only humanitarian organization that visits all detention facilities on a regular basis in Australia. Hannah stated, “I am really impressed and would want to appreciate PRCS activities in Pakistan generally and in Sindh particularly.

Kanwar Waseem, PRCS-Sindh Provincial Secretary, suggested to the program officials at the closing ceremony that there is now a dire need to popularize and disseminate the RFL services to the masses widely. He stated that the Restoring Family Links initiatives might assist the public in locating people, exchanging messages, reuniting families, and clarifying the fate of missing persons.

PRCS Chairman Shahid Ahmed Laghari and IFRC Director Alexander Mathew met with ICRC Delegation 

Islamabad, February 08, 2023 (PPI-OT):International Committee of the Red Cross delegation led by Head of Delegation ICRC Pakistan Mr. Jamal Khan and Muhammad Wasif Jan met with the Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent, Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari, at Red Crescent National #Headquarters.

Jamal Khan said that the flood has caused #historic destruction. During the 2010 flood, extensive relief work was done under the International Committee, this time we will continue the cooperation with Pakistan Red Crescent. The needs are much higher. The infrastructure is completely destroyed, and a role will be played.

During the meeting, International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies Director Alexander Mathew, Head of Delegation in Pakistan Peter P. Reception Ceremony of Newly Elected Officers of Red Crescent Youth Club Held at Hasan Abdal Cadet College

Hasan Abdal, January 31, 2023 (PPI-OT):The Chairman of the Pakistan Red Crescent, Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari, stated that service to humanity has become a notion and that we must reawaken this hope so that everyone is always willing to assist others.

Volunteerism promotion is an urgent need and a shared national responsibility for all of us. He expressed these views while addressing the introductory ceremony of the Red Crescent Youth Club at Hasan Abdal Cadet College. He further said that Red Crescent volunteers are the backbone of the ongoing flood relief operation because they work day and night to serve the flood victims.

Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari said that Hasan Abdal Cadet College is an excellent institution of historical importance, producing future leadership. Collaboration with Red Crescent will reach new heights in spreading awareness and serving the people. He said that club members would get red jackets, caps, and umbrellas, just like they get bicycles.

Youth Club Secretary Cadet Hasnain Mumtaz Naqvi held a media briefing about the club’s activities. In his remarks, Vice Principal Kaleem Mustafa reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining the stability and vitality of the seven-year collaboration with the Red Crescent, stating that the Red Crescent has given the cadets’ volunteerism new hope.

The efforts of the youth club are commendable. We are proud of this partnership and mutual trust, he added. Deputy Vice-Principal Shaukat Mehmood thanked the guests for coming and welcoming the newly elected officers of the Youth Club in the welcome speech.

On behalf of Hasan Abdal Cadet College, Vice Principal Kaleem Mustafa presented souvenirs to Pakistan Red Crescent Chairman Sardar Shahid Ahmad Laghari, Secretary General Obaid ullah Khan, and Assistant Director of Youth and Volunteer Department Misbah Mushtaq.

Moreover, Moazzam Ali Saqib, former head of the youth club, was given a certificate of appreciation and an honorary certificate for the cadet college by the Red Crescent. Newly elected Head Youth Club Mirza Saeed, Secretary Youth Club Hasnain Mumtaz Naqvi, and Vice Principal Kaleem Mustafa were presented with Red Crescent souvenir shields.

Later, during the college visit, Chairman Red Crescent Sardar Shahid Ahmed Laghari was briefed about various wings, sports facilities, and extra-curricular and co-curricular activities. Chairman PRCS also visited the grave of the founder of the college.
