Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s message on the Golden Jubilee of 1973 Constitution

Karachi, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the 1973 Constitution is our national agenda and bond of the Federation. In his message on the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution issued from Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman has extended heartiest congratulation to entire nation on the occasion. He said that the Constitution of 1973 is the gift and trust of the first elected Prime Minister of the country, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and saluted all the political leaders who played their role in creating a unanimous Constitution for the nation adding that after August 14, 1947, the second most important day in our national history is April 10, 1973.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the Constitution of 1973 is a true reflection of Pakistan. As Pakistan is a Federal state, our Constitution is a Federal Constitution. Our country is an Islamic country, so the spirit of our constitution is Islamic teachings. We are a country of democrats, so ours is a democratic Constitution and is the guarantee of our national solidarity and unity, he added.

The PPP Chairman said that ever since the Constitution was made, it has been under attack. He said that some elements do not tolerate that the people get their rights, that the provinces own their resources, and that all are equal before the law. The approach that considers itself beyond the law considers the 1973 Constitution as its enemy. He said that the history of PPP in terms of making and safeguarding the Constitution is unparalleled. Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and President Asif Ali Zardari restored the 1973 Constitution to its original form by successfully removing the dictatorial pollution enacted into the Constitution by dictators Zia-ul-Haq, by General Pervez Musharraf.

Karachi, April 09, 2023 (PPI-OT):Pakistan People’s Party Chairman and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that the 1973 Constitution is our national agenda and chain of federation. According to a statement issued by Media Cell Bilawal House, the PPP Chairman has congratulated the entire nation on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of the 1973 Constitution. He said that the Constitution of 1973 is the gift and trust of the first elected Prime Minister of the country, Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto. He said that he salutes all the political leaders who have played their role in creating a unified constitution for the nation. He said that after August 14, 1947, the second most important day in our national history is April 10, 1973.

An important meeting of the core committee of Pakistan People’s Party at Zardari House Islamabad regarding the current situation of the country

Karachi, April 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): The meeting of Pakistan People’s Party Core Committee was held on Friday evening at Zardari House Islamabad which was jointly chaired by President of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. In this meeting, Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani, Syed Nair Hussain Bukhari, Naveed Qamar, Raza Rabbani, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Sherry Rehman, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Shazia Atta Murri, Nisar Khoro, Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, Humayun Khan, Faisal. Karim Kundi, Akhunzada Chitan and Farhatullah Babar participated. Chairman PPP’s Spokesman Zulfikar Ali Bader states that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Asif Ali Zardari have a great role in forming the National Unity Government

Karachi, April 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): Chairman Pakistan People’s Party Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s Spokesman Zulfikar Ali Bader stated that Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Mr. Asif Ali Zardari have a great role in forming this National Unity Government. There are millions of people who still believe in the ideology of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and are willing to support and vote the candidates of PPP, thus, we will not leave the field empty for the opportunists and our political rivals but we will fight vehemently. President Asif Ali Zardari explained to Mian Nawaz Sharif that he should not boycott the general elections in 2008 after the martyrdom of Shaheed Rani Benazir Bhutto and participate in the elections.

The nation demands that a non-controversial full bench should have been formed and give its decision upon which all the political parties and all political forces should agree. Also, the heads of all institutions should put the house in order with regards to their respective institutions so that the tensions within the institutions will be reduced for Pakistan’s instability. The Parliament is the supreme institution and the supremacy of the parliament should continue and no one should dictate or sabotage the parliament and the parliamentarians should continue having a dialogue with all the political parties for the sake of Parliamentary Sovereignty. All political parties should work in collaboration for the political and economic stability, implementation of the Constitution and the rule of law by setting a principle that no institution and no individual is above law.

Pakistan People’s Party Core Committee deliberates on the current situation in Pakistan

Karachi, April 07, 2023 (PPI-OT): A meeting of the core committee of the PPP was held Thursday evening in Zardari House Islamabad presided over by President PPPP Mr. Asif Ali Zardari and Chairman PPP Mr. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and attend by the following. Yousuf Raza Gillani, Nayyer Bukhari, Naveed Qamar, Raza Rabbani, Qamar Zaman Kaira, Sherry Rehman, CM Sindh Murad Ali Shah, Shazia Marri, Nisar Khuro, Muhammad Ali Shah Bacha, Humayun Khan, Faisal Karim Kundi, Akhunzada Chattan and Farhatullah Babar.

In a statement secretary general of the Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians Farhatullah Babar said that the meeting stressed that shutting the door dialogue is not the solution. For this purpose, the Party decided to approach all the parties in the coalition government for taking a joint position on the issue of dialogue among the political parties. The Party said that the crisis was the result of numerous reasons not the least of which is the insistence that minority verdict should take precedence over the majority court verdict. This position is untenable legally, morally and politically and needs to be reviewed.

He said that the meeting also of the view that it was imperative that the honor and prestige of the judiciary was not allowed to be impaired in any way. To achieve this, it is essential that numerous apparently conflicting verdicts of the Honourable Court are resolved expeditiously. The Party believes that in the interest of fair and free elections general elections to all assemblies be held on the same day on a date provided for the in the Constitution. The Party reiterated that it will not countenance any delay in the holding of elections beyond the mandate date in the Constitution, he said.

Karachi, April 05, 2023 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan People’s Party and Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Imran Khan was brought to power once by rigging, but he will not be allowed to get power through the back door for the second time. He further said that the message to all stakeholders is that we have to save democracy and institutions. Addressing the gathering held on the 44th martyrdom anniversary of the country’s first elected Prime Minister, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, the PPP Chairman said that on April 4, Pakistanis around the world miss Quaid-e-Awam very much.

He said that President Asif Ali Zardari had sent a Presidential Reference to the Supreme Court regarding the judicial murder of Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, but it has not been taken for hearing yet. “While on the one hand the Quaid-e-Awam was martyred, on the other hand the constitution made by him was repeatedly violated, the reforms introduced by him were declared unconstitutional and the rights given to the backward classes including women were also revoked”, he pointed out. Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, giving a historical reference, said that after the seizure of power by dictator Ziaul Haq and another dictator Pervez Musharraf, the Supreme Court (SC) was asked whether these actions were legitimate, then the superior court had declared them legitimate.

He said that after the restoration of democracy in 1988, the government established by the Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was allowed to run for just 18 months and the government was dissolved on the basis of a newspaper column, but this action was endorsed by the SC. He said that even in 1996, the government of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was overthrown and the judiciary did not restore it. A judge of that bench wrote in his dissenting note that the SC refused to restore the government of the Prime Minister from Sindh for the second time, while the Prime Minister belonging Punjab was restored. Referring to the murder case of Shaheed Mir Murtaza Bhutto, he said: “The murder also happened to a member of our family and we were blamed for that.”

Chairman PPP said that the SC not only confirmed Musharraf’s seizure of power, but also allowed him to amend the constitution, adding that former Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary was also part of the bench that approved Musharraf’s coup. He said that President Asif Ali Zardari was unjustly imprisoned until 2005 during Musharraf-regime, adding that General Musharraf had once apologized for keeping President Asif Ali Zardari in jail, but this was taken as NRO and a hue and cry was raised unnecessarily across the country and Justice Chaudhry declared it null and void. “Chaudhry Iftikhar action was extremely ridiculous, who after restoration to the post, avoided even to look at the General Musharraf, who actually ousted him, rather removed the elected Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani in order not to violate the constitution,” he added.

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that since the time of former Justice Iftikhar Chaudhary, dictatorship has been going on in the judiciary, and a one-man show is going on. “If we do not accept dictatorship in Parliament, then we cannot accept dictatorship in judiciary”, he added. He questioned: “At the moment, who will save the Supreme Court from the Supreme Court, who will save the judiciary.” He said that problems have arisen in the past as well, but it has not happened that all the other judges have expressed no confidence in the three judges.

Former Chief Justice Gulzar Ahmed was fond of seeing the Karachi of 1970s, and the houses of the poor were demolished in the name of encroachment. “The former establishment and the former Supreme Court also rigged the election,” he added. He said that we want no one may raise a finger on the upcoming election, therefore the PPP demands that there should be a fair and transparent election in the country and that everyone should have a level playing field. “The people should be allowed to decide who will become the prime minister,” he added.

Foreign Minister said that on the issue of election against Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani, the judiciary had said that it cannot interfere in the matter of Parliament. But when it comes to “Takht Lahore”, the rules change. “In order to fulfill a promise to someone, the constitution was violated, an unconstitutional verdict was delivered and the government in Punjab was given to Chaudhary Parvez Elahi from PDM,” he pointed out.

Chairman PPP said that there is weight in the concerns of his party allies regarding the current situation, adding that the allies say that the game being played with the nation and its destiny is malicious. He emphasized that in order to stop this constitutional crisis, we demand that the Supreme Court should form a larger bench, in which all the judges except the two judges who were caught talking to the opposition on the phone are part of it. He said that we want the mistakes made in the past not to be repeated, adding that we want Chief Justice Umar Atta Bandial to be remembered as the judge who saved Pakistan. “All the judges, including our Chief Justice, are appealed to save Pakistan, because the fight for the “Takht-e-Lahore” will sink the whole of Pakistan,” he warned.

Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that because of the ego of the three judges, if anything happens tomorrow, only his party’s leaders and workers will go to jail and fight for the democracy. He warned that if this crisis continues, neither Shahbaz Sharif nor Imran Khan will come to power, rather, the people of Pakistan will have to bear the consequences of such situations. He said that if Pakistan and institutions remain divided due to ego, then the people will have to bear the consequences. “WE will try to bury the politics of hatred and division, and this is our message for the whole of Pakistan that neither yours nor mine, Pakistan belongs to all of us,” he concluded.
