Prime Minister’s statement about the US against diplomatic norms: PAT

Lahore, February 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Commenting on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s statement about the United States that he made in an interview with Chinese journalist, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the Prime Minister should seek guideline from the Foreign Office before talking about sensitive international issues and bilateral relations. He said that the statement of the Prime Minister is contrary to the national interest and not in line with the diplomatic norms. He said that the purpose of diplomacy is to follow a pragmatic strategy that yields maximum national benefits, an undertaking in which diplomatic tone and tenor and careful use of the words is of critical importance.

In a statement, Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the countries make and amend policies in accordance with their national interests. He said that it is not essential that a diplomatic policy and priorities of one country are also beneficial for others. He said that it is by putting Pakistan first will the country enjoy credibility and become stronger in the comity of the nations, adding that it is for this reason that wise strategy is adopted to respond to the current and emergent challenges in the domain of international politics and economy.

PAT Secretary General said that the United States is a paramount economic power and military and political pivot in the international system at the moment. He said that instead of taking on the countries, there is a dire need to adopt the path of dialogue and engagement for the protection of national interest. He said that if the governments have failed to take right decisions in the national interests commensurate with the geographical, political, diplomatic, social and economic importance, it is not in the fitness of things to complain and pin the responsibility onto others. Rather we should undertake a self-appraisal.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that whatever the Prime Minister said about the US could be correct in the historical perspective. He, however, added in the same breath that whenever a prime minister holds forth on any subject, it is not his personal opinion; rather he represents the aspirations and views of the millions of people of that country. He said that there is a wise saying that advises people to think before speaking. He said that already Pakistan is not in an ideal position at the diplomatic front, stating that careless and ill-considered statements can increase the problems for the country. He said that rhetoric and meaningless statements will not distract people’s attention from the raging issues of price hike, unemployment, massive debts and inflation.

The participants of the rally chanted passionate slogans in support of the oppressed Kashmiris and against the Indian barbarism. Addressing the rally Lahore president Dr Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said that human rights are being violated with abandon in occupied Kashmir. He said that the Kashmir dispute should be solved in accordance with the resolutions of the United Nations and aspirations of Kashmiris. Haji Farooq Khan Qadri, president of PAT Youth Wing, said in his speech that India has been creating hurdles in the way of solution of the Kashmir issue instead of implementing the UN resolutions. He said that the state terrorism in occupied Kashmir has been going on for the last many decades in which the Indian occupation forces have targeted women, men and children ruthlessly. He said that the implementation of the UN resolutions is the only workable solution for the Kashmir dispute.

Kashmiris be given observer’s status at the OIC: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, February 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the war is not a solution of any dispute but it appears that the age-old issue of Kashmir doesn’t seem to be nearing resolution without war. He said that the peace of the region is conditional on the resolution of Kashmir issue.

He further stated that the United Nations will have to fulfil its promise it made with Kashmiris in the form of resolutions sanctioning their right to self determination. He warned that Indian occupied Kashmir is a flashpoint in South Asia that can trigger a massive war if serious efforts are not initiated to bring India and Pakistan to the negotiating table.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur asked the international community to fulfil its responsibility so far as the rights of Kashmiris are concerned. He reminded them that Kashmiris have not abandoned the path of peace despite all manner of cruelty and exploitation inflicted on them by India.

He said that New Delhi has used every trick in the book to mislead the international opinion but failed miserably in crushing Kashmiris’ urge for freedom. He said that India has turned Kashmir into the world’s largest prison. He said that the barbarism of the Indian occupation forces has not ceased even during the corona pandemic.

PAT Secretary General said that Kashmir is an undeniable reality and internationally known dispute. He said that India cannot turn its back on the issue by using its political, economic and diplomatic influence. He said that Pakistan has remained unwavering in extending its moral, political and diplomatic support to Kashmiris. However, there is a dire need of the hour that the representatives of Kashmiris are also included in the diplomatic initiatives to be undertaken for projecting the Kashmir issue.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur further demanded that the Kashmiris’ representative should also be given representation at the international forums so that they can plead their case effectively. He said that representatives of the Kashmiri people should be allowed to join OIC as observers.

He said that the people of Pakistan have strong emotional connection and association with the Kashmir cause and added in the same breath that Pakistani people are determined for solution of Kashmir dispute in line with the the resolutions of United Nations and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.
