Corrupt politicians biggest hurdle in the way of achieving national objectives: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, March 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the corrupt office-holders of the political parties are the biggest hurdle in the way of achieving the national objectives for which Pakistan was established. He termed the sale and purchase of votes and the switching of loyalty as the biggest political evil.

He said that the sale of conscience is taking place before all the constitutional institutions but they remain unmoved. He said that all institutions are not only witnessing the spectacle of the fraud being committed in the name of democratic system but also making a joke of the country in the comity of nations.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the current system is the protector of mafias, and incompetent and dishonest people. He said that it was on the 23rd of March 1940 that the demand for an Islamic welfare state was made in line with the golden principles of Islam. He however added in the same breath that a combination of corruption and incompetence has sabotaged the national agenda.

So much so that the process of violation of national interest has not ceased despite the passage of 74 years. He made it pretty clear that without changing the system of elections nothing positive will happen. He said that all political parties are trying to outcompete each other in bringing infamy to the country.

PAT Secretary General expressed these views while addressing a ceremony held in connection with the Pakistan Day here at the central secretariat of the party. The ceremony was attended by the district, provincial, and central office bearers of PAT.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the biggest question relates to the progress and solidarity of Pakistan. He said that the way the guardians of the corrupt system trade off the national interest is very much shameful. He said these so-called national political leaders will not let the country progress and become stable. He said that on the 23rd of March, we will have to make a fresh pledge that we will work with full commitment, sincerity of purpose and complete devotion to make Pakistan a peaceful, prosperous, Islamic welfare state.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur said that the importance of the Day can be assessed from the fact that the 23rd of March changed the destiny of Muslims of the subcontinent, as it gave them an ideal to pursue. Brig. (r ) Iqbal Ahmad Khan, Noorullah Siddiqui, Mian Rehan Maqbool, Arif Chaudhry, Dr Sultan Mahmood Ch and others were present on the occasion.

A system without effective LG institutions is no democracy: Khurram Nawaz Gandapur

Lahore, March 11, 2022 (PPI-OT):Addressing a local government workers convention held in Layyah, PAT Secretary General Khurram Nawaz Gandapur has said that the current system is the enemy of prosperity and national security. He said that the system has nurtured the mafias. Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri had warned that the system was so thoroughly corrupt that even the well-meaning people would not be able to make any difference. He said the time has come to get rid of this rotten and outdated system. He said that the system that has deprived the people of their constitutional right to vote doesn’t deserve to be called democratic. He said that skyrocketing inflation and unemployment are forcing the people to commit suicides.

President of PAT South Punjab Mian Noor Ahmed Sahu, while addressing the workers convention, said that whichever government comes to power in the name of democracy attacks the local government institutions first of all. The funds are snatched from the local representatives and placed at the mercy of the government officials. He said that democracy is all about the distribution of resources and power, adding that the current system in which the power and resources of local government institutions are not devolved is ironically called democracy.

Speaking at the workers convention, Secretary Coordination Arif Chaudhry said that keeping the people deprived of the right to elect their local leaders is an act of great disenfranchisement. He said that whatever claims the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf made with reference to strengthening the local government institutions, it has not fulfilled any of them.

Provincial General Secretary Iftikhar Qureshi Advocate said in his speech that Pakistan Awami Tehreek held a peaceful protest to seek justice for the families of the martyrs of Model Town tragedy. He said that we were accused and defamed then. He asked those who levelled baseless allegations to tell the nation as to why armed gangs are gathering in front of Parliament today and why is the show being staged on the roads instead of talking about the issues in Parliament.

Provincial organiser Chaudhry Qamar Abbas Dhool said in his talk that only Pakistan Awami Tehreek has the educated representatives who have the passion to serve the people of Pakistan. He said that if we get a chance in the local government elections, we will turn every union council into a model council. He said that it is our commitment that the funds of the union council will be spent on the welfare of the people of that council as well as on public welfare schemes of that area. Rao Arif Rizvi said that the perpetrators of Model Town tragedy are spending their ill-gotten money like water to foment in anarchy and chaos in the country.

Those who addressed the workers convention held under the banner of PAT Layyah included Mahr Anwar Thind, Dr Mahmood-ul-Hassan Mustafai, Chaudhry Ali Raza Natt, district president Sayyid Inamullah Shah Gillani, district General Secretary Khizer Hayat Dhool, Sheikh Tahir Suleman, Chaudhry Shahid Arain, Syed Saqalain Gillani, Saeed Ahmad Khan, Nazkat Gurwan, Master Allah Ditta, Allama Waseem Faizi, Syed Nayyar Abbas Kazmi, Haji Muhammad Mansha, Rashid Mahmood Bhutta, Prof Waqas Shahid, Shahid Saleem Chishti, Khawaja Javed, and others.

Khurram Nawaz Gandapur was warmly received on his arrival in Layyah. The PAT leaders showered rose petals on the central leaders. They offered Friday prayers in the central mosque at Chowk Azam. A large number of people shook hands with Khurram Nawaz Gandapur and welcomed him to South Punjab.

PAT Secretary General also held a meeting with students of a local seminary working under the banner of Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan. He said that Nizam-ul-Madaris Pakistan is bringing about a new educational revolution in the light of Shaykh-ul-Islam’s vision and its new curriculum.

Countering fake news and protecting freedom of expression equally essential: PAT

Lahore, February 25, 2022 (PPI-OT):Central PAT Secretary Information Noorullah Siddiqui has said that protecting the freedom of expression and countering the fake news through legislation is equally essential. He said that no institution including the judiciary is safe from the ravages of fake news culture. He suggested to the government to take APNS and all journalistic bodies into confidence on PECA Amendment Ordinance.

He said that the protection of the fundamental constitutional right of freedom of expression and independence of journalism and stopping their abuse are two major challenges. He said that the opposition of some political parties that suppressed media freedom during their tenures is not based on any good intention, adding that one opposition party has been repeatedly involved in the crime of compromising national interest and character assassination of their opponents and national institutions.

Noorullah Siddiqui said that that opposition is making this legislation on an important social issue controversial without any reason. He said that the government did not help its cause either by ignoring the parliament on this legislation and thus created doubts in the minds of common Pakistanis. He said that fake news is a serious matter and it is important to stop its spread through proper legislation. He said that Pakistan does it afford to allow the fake news culture to take root at a time when it is confronted with grave national security challenges.

PAT Secretary Information said that the practice of character assassination and political vendetta is very common in the politics of the country, adding that time has come to put an end to this practice. He said that the inactivation of the defamation law and the inordinate delay in the judicial decisions on cases regarding the defamation has also promoted the culture of fake news. He said that the state institutions have been subjected to the ill effects of fake news for a long time. It is therefore important that important judicial requirement should not be lost sight of in the mutual fight between the opposition and the government. He said that the proposed amendments should be placed before parliament for debate and approval.
