CEME Alumnus Asad Raza appointed as Chief Technology Officer at Unmudl

Islamabad, July 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):Asad Raza, an alumnus from NUST College of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (CEME) has been appointed as the Chief Technology Officer to lead the engineering team at Unmudl. Asad Raza has over seven years of technical and leadership experience in product management, full-stack development, and building cross-border engineering teams.

Unmudl is a Skills-to-Jobs Marketplace that connects learners and employers via a coast-to-coast network of leading community colleges. NUST Internship Programme for International Students (NIPIS ’21)

Islamabad, July 06, 2021 (PPI-OT):NUST Internship Programme for International Students (NIPIS ’21), the university’s signature internship programme, was officially launched at the Islamabad campus today, July 5, 2021. The programme promises to deliver a sublime internship experience that not only advances professional skills of students coming in from around the world but also reinforces their academic competence through its practical applications. The programme is focused on promoting diversity, growth, cultural exchange and opportunities for all.

Considering the Covid-19 pandemic and travel restrictions thereof this year as many as 19 student interns are virtually participating in the programme, while virtually a total of 14 interns have managed to physically attend the internship on campus. In addition, eight interns under AIESEC have also joined the programme. Dr Rizwan Riaz, NUST Pro-Rector Research, Innovation and Commercialisation, extended a warm welcome to the students and introduced them to the array of activities they will have a chance to benefit from during their internship.

NUSTians win CureMD Young Inventor Program 2021

Islamabad, June 28, 2021 (PPI-OT): Courtesy brilliance and inventiveness of its pool of highly talented students and faculty, NUST continues to be on a winning streak since dawn of the year 2021 – latest of these meritorious accomplishments being a comprehensive even dazzling triumph of students of NUST School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS) at CureMD Young Inventor Program (YIP 2021) held from January to April 2021. The committee of judges unanimously endorsed three Nustians out of seven finalists for the competition, wherein as many as 900 students from across Pakistan pitched their innovative potential. The excelling SEECS students claiming the top three slots include Alina Irfan, Shahzeb Naeem and Ayman Tanveer.

In addition to the above-mentioned students, six other SEECS students also qualified for CureMD Grit Plus Award and CureMD Grit Award. Momina Gul, Talha Masood and Hamza lqbal were awarded Grit Plus Award, whereas Amna ljaz, Usama Saghir and M Abdur Rehman were conferred the Grit Award.

NUST inks a partnership agreement with Tufail Group to enhance industry-academia linkages 

Islamabad, June 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):NUST entered a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tufail Group, one of the leading Industrial Chemical Manufacturers of Pakistan, at the Group’s Headquarters in Karachi on June 24, 2021. AVM Dr Rizwan Riaz SI(M), Pro-Rector for Research, Innovation, and Commercialisation represented NUST at the august occasion, and a warm welcome was extended by Mr Zubair Tufail and Mr Pervez Tufail, co-owners of Tufail Group, to the NUST team.

 

The MoU formalises the existing partnership with the Tufail Group on the NUST Endowment for Educational Development programme. This initiative is a nation-building strive of NUST to ensure that no student at the University leaves due to any financial constraints. With a 4% acceptance rate at NUST, as many as 61% of students hail from lower-middle-income strata of the society.

 

The MoU also envisaged a collaborative arrangement on Research and Development projects, Executive Training Programmes, Management Training Programmes, and other avenues of strengthening academia-industrial linkages. Pro-Rector appreciated the strong commitment of Tufail Group to support education for all segments of society. He further expressed that the excellence of NUST combined with the commitment of one of the country’s leading industrial groups can undoubtedly achieve greater feats in defining the future of our country.

NUST to collaborate on digital innovation initiatives with Total Parco Pakistan Limited

Islamabad, June 18, 2021 (PPI-OT):An MoU signing ceremony with Total Parco Pakistan Limited (TPPL) was held in Lahore on June 16, 2021. The ceremony was organised as a follow-up, by both NUST and TPPL, to collaborate on digital innovation initiatives, thus contributing towards accelerating the Digital Transformation of Total Parco.

Speaking at the event, Air Vice Marshal Dr Rizwan Riaz SI(M) Pro-Rector Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC), highlighted the importance of inducting digital technologies in the oil and gas sector. These technologies have a key role to play in the future for oil extraction and management of fuel stations.

Furthermore, TPPL offered induction of top students from multiple engineering and non-engineering backgrounds on an immediate basis. NUST and TPPL have also agreed to initiate student exchange programmes, talent acquisition, professional development of the employees, and contribution in NUST endowments as part of this MoU.
