Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra (RA) is a role model for all Muslim women: Dr Farah Naz

Lahore, April 03, 2023 (PPI-OT):In a statement marking the death anniversary of Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra (RA), the revered wife of the Holy Prophet (SAW), Dr Farah Naz, President of Minhaj-ul-Quran Women League, said that the women’s success in this world and the hereafter lies in following the ‘Seerah’ of Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra (RA). She (RA) was the incarnation of nobility, had excellent morality and was blessed with remarkable administrative skills. She was known as an enterprising business woman whose trade spanned from Syria to Yemen. She heard about the prophet hood and affirmed it. She also had the unique honour of being the first Muslim woman in the world. The words she uttered to comfort the Holy Prophet (SAW) when prophet hood was conferred upon him, have joined the chronicle of history.

Dr Farah Naz mentioned the words of Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra (RA) who said: By Allah, Allah shall never subject you to any indignity…, for you always maintain your ties with those of your kin, and you are always generous in giving. You are diligent, and you seek what others regard as unattainable. You cool the eyes of your guest, and you lend your support to those who seek justice and redress. Stay firm, O cousin, for by Allah I know that He will not deal with you except most beautifully, and I testify that you are the awaited Prophet in this nation, and your time, if Allah wills, has come.”

Dr Farah Naz said that Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra (RA) is a role model for Muslim women across the world. She (RA) was the best mother, wife, business woman and a Muslim. She earned a name as a trader which was only her share. She was an example in herself in terms of honesty, wisdom and social understanding. Jewish and Christian employees were part of the trade convoys but she used to mete out equal and just treatment to all of them.

Reports about abolishing of Indus Water Treaty are alarming: Dr. Hussain Qadri

Lahore, March 30, 2023 (PPI-OT): Deputy Chairman of Board of Directors of Minhaj University Lahore Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has drawn the attention of the Pakistani authorities towards reports going viral on social media websites that India has planned to annul the 1960 Indus Water Treaty. A known economist Dr. Qadri said in a statement here on Thursday that it’s being claimed that new Delhi had sent a notice to Islamabad on Jan 25, 2025 about the Treaty brokered by the World Bank in 1960 and it’s being assumed that if the Pakistan prime minister does not respond to it within 90 days then India would consider it as abolishing of the water accord and would get control of all the river waters flowing down to Pakistan from India-held Kashmir.

He said though the Indus Water Treaty is an international accord and New Delhi could not unilaterally annul it, Islamabad should take serious notice of the information or disinformation being shared on the social media about the future of the accord to allay concerns of the Pakistani nation in this respect. He asserted that the Foreign Office, federal cabinet, or the parliament must issue a policy statement on the matter to let the people know about the veracity of the information. Dr. Qadri said that international studies suggest that Pakistan is among the countries which would be facing a crisis of severe water shortage by 2030 and in case of any dispute on its shares in the river waters would devastate agriculture of the country and deepen the food security issue.

He said that Pakistan is passing through a critical juncture of time when it is facing an unprecedented internal, political, and economic crisis simultaneously keeping the authorities engaged in the internal issues creating the impression that there’s none to look after international affairs of the country. He said India might be wishing to take advantage of this situation warranting a detailed policy statement by the government on the rivers’ water treaty.

The economist said that with the growth of population water requirements of the country are on the rise and experts believe that if solid measures are taken to plan the optimal use of the available water resources, the country will be turned into a desert. He stressed that the authorities concerned should calm public concerns regarding the Indus Water Treaty by issuing a policy statement at the earliest.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri proposes Muslim Common Waqf to deal with economic challenges

Lahore, March 29, 2023 (PPI-OT): Deputy Chairman, BoG of Minhaj University Lahore and the renowned expert on economic affairs Prof Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri has proposed the idea for the establishment of Muslim Common Waqf (MCW) with the mandate to help the Islamic countries out of the economic crises and support the financial crisis economies. He said that the poor and middle income Islamic countries are gradually losing their sovereignty due to the IMF’s strict conditionality’s and high interest on the loans.

Throwing light on the details of the proposed initiative, Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that there are hundreds of billionaires in the Islamic world who can be persuaded to deposit seed money. They can also be asked to deposit some portion of their profits or donate their assets for the creation of such a fund. He further proposed that the fund can be set up at the forum of the OIC as well and it can be further strengthened and expanded through different investments.

Prof Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that the Ottoman Empire ensured its economic sovereignty, and stability for 700 years through this economic model. He said that humanity was served under the same model during the periods of the rightly guided Caliphs. He said that after Egypt, it is Pakistan that has looked towards the IMF for bailout packages every now and then, adding that the persisting economic vulnerabilities and the dire security challenges of these two Islamic countries are before everyone to see. He said that the concept of national security cannot be completed without ensuring economic security.

Deputy Chairman, Board of Governors, MUL, said that the idea of the brotherhood will be extended to the countries instead of the people under the proposed fund. He further said that the fund should not be confined to the provision of donations; rather it could also play a leading role in the building of infrastructure including the projects of public health and education in the Islamic world. He said that Muslim Common Waqf would be a chief instrument to promote and strengthen economic bonds and linkages between the Islamic countries. He said that the distinguished economic experts would also be co-opted to help the developing Islamic countries with technical advice.

Dr. Hussain Mohi-ud-Din Qadri said that Allah Almighty has blessed the Islamic world with enormous human, natural, and mineral resources. He said that despite the possession of these resources, it is humiliating to see poor Muslim countries extend a begging bowl to the IMF, adding that the bailouts have failed to deliver long-term solutions with the result that these countries’ economies are totally broken. He said that there are traders and investors with personal portfolios of billions of dollars individually, and their help can make Muslim Common Wafaq a pioneering initiative.

He said that the economic model can be launched within the Islamic countries and at the time of need, it can become a part of the solution. He said that MCW can also be leveraged to deal with natural catastrophes such as climate change, floods, and earthquakes. “Time has come that the Islamic world stops looking to others for support. They need to create interdependence and mutually beneficial arrangements and institutions to help each other,” he concluded.
