Ambassador of Yemen calls on IIUI President

Islamabad, June 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Ambassador of Yemen to Pakistan, H.E. Mohammed Motahar Alashabi called on H.E. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at his office. Both the Ambassador and IIUI President agreed upon bilateral cooperation in the field of education. Honourable Ambassador appreciated the services of IIUI and said that it is one of the vital educational institutions of Muslim world.

Dr. Hathal said during the meeting that university is keen to hold joint ventures with varsities across the world and it is focused on raising standards of education, research and society service. He vowed that IIUI will keep playing its role in dissemination of Islam’s message of peace. IIUI President also said that university give importance to build bridges between the traditional knowledge and the latest technologies, paying equal attention to the Islamic heritage and the engineering and technology which is need of the time.

IIUI Research Scholar Publishes Article in US Journal

Islamabad, June 30, 2021 (PPI-OT):Syed Haroon Ahmed Shah, an MPhil research scholar of the department of English, has published his research paper entitled “Hegemonic Change and the Role of the Intellectual in Atlas Shrugged” in the July 2021 issue of the Journal of Ayn Rand Studies. The journal is published by the Pennsylvania State University Press and placed in the X category by Higher Education Commission.

The Journal of Ayn Rand Studies is the only non-partisan, double-blind peer-reviewed, university-press-published, scholarly periodical devoted to the study of Ayn Rand and her times. Shah’s research work finding place in such an acclaimed platform is reflective of the general zeitgeist at the department of English: which has as its kernel the research-oriented training and the research-friendly environment.

Book Launching Ceremony held at IRD

Islamabad, June 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):A launching ceremony of the book: “State Society Conflict in Pakistan: A Psychological perspective” authored by Dr. Ghulam Mujaddid and Published by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of International Islamic University (IIU), was held here at the old campus of the university.

 

Chief Guest of the ceremony was Air Chief Marshal (Retd) Sohail Aman, Former Chief of Air Staff, Guest of Honour of the ceremony was Air Vice Marshal (Retd) Shehzad Aslam Chaudhary, while the session was chaired by Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI. It was also attended by Executive Director IRD, Dr. Husnul Amin, the author, Ghulam Mujadid, Vice President Academics Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Vice Chancellor Air University, Javaid Ahmed and Keynote Speaker Dr. Khalid Masud, former Chairman Council of Islamic Ideology (CII).

 

Dr Ghulam Mujadid is Air Commodore (Retd) who has served as a faculty at PAF Air War College and National Defense University. He continues to teach as Assistant Professor at the Department of the Aerospace Sciences and Strategic Studies (DASS), Air University. Speakers noted that the author has discussed a valuable topic and he has discussed the solutions on this important topic. The psychosocial perspective adopted by the author was also appreciated by the speakers.

 

The Author appreciated the highly professional research team of IRD and also elaborated the relationship of state and society. He thanked his team and the mentors for the support. He discussed parts of the books dedicated to the sub topics such as State Society Conflict in Pakistan: The evidence, psychological nature of the state in Pakistan, psychological nature of the state in Pakistani society, values, attitudes and behaviour of social institutions in society and resolution of state society conflict.

 

Speaking on the occasion, IIU Rector Dr. Masoom opined that the book has relevance to the societal needs and added that it must be the approach of the universities to launch such projects and initiatives that may serve the purpose of delivering to the society. He said research and problem solving approach according to the needs of society is the need of hour. Earlier, Dr. Husn ul Amin apprised of the vision of IRD and also discussed the theme of the book. He thanked the author, research and publication team as well.

IIUI holds meeting of BOG

Islamabad, June 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):The 88th meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held here at Faisal Masjid campus of the university. The meeting was chaired by Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI and Chairman Board of Governors of University. It was also attended by Vice Chairman BoG and President IIUI Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi and the board members. The board appreciated the actions of the university in response to the unfortunate happening occurred at campus.

 

It was agreed that strict action shall be taken against the negative elements who defame the university. The board decided that actions shall also be taken against officials who bypass the hierarchy. The board also approved the social media usage policy implies any employee, student or the outsider found involved in defaming the university shall be dealt through university rules, Students Discipline Committee and Courts of law accordingly.

Committee reviews implementation of the Strategic Plan

Islamabad, June 24, 2021 (PPI-OT):A meeting of the committee for the implementation of the strategic plan was held here at the new campus of the university under the chairmanship of H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi, President, International Islamic University (IIU). The meeting was also attended by Vice President HS and R Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Vice President AF and P Dr. N.B. Jumani and other members of the committee.

It was recommended in the meeting that Strategic Plan (2022-2026) and revised organogram must be notified on priority basis and be circulated among stakeholders. During the meeting, a thinking framework was developed so that the working groups may develop and prepare the implementation of the plan in order to effectively accomplish various work packages for the development of the implementation plan.

The member noted that this process shall help the committee to present the skeleton of the implementation plan to the statuary bodies of the university. It was also recommended that under the main strategic plan, all faculties and their respective departments will also initiate their independent strategic plans while, the committee will put these sub plans to the statuary bodies of the University for Approval. On the occasion, President, IIUI lauded the role of the committee for its untiring efforts regarding implementation of the Strategic Plan (2022-2026).

IRD MOU with Turkish University

Islamabad, June 23, 2021 (PPI-OT):A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for Mevlana Exchange Program (MEP) on Wednesday was inked between the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and Duzce University Turkey.

The MoU was signed by the Rector, IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai who is also the Chairman-IRD and his counterpart Prof. Dr. Nigar D. Cakar, Rector, Duzce University, Turkey. The MEP is a famous fellowship opportunity which is globally known and considered a reputable exchange program for both students and faculty. Both institutions, IRD-IIUI and Duzce University, agreed on student and academic staff exchange under MEP.

The MoU details three fellowships for students and two for faculty in the Departments of Biological Sciences, Physics, Informatics and Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Politics and International Relations, Education Sciences, Sociology, Religious Studies and English Language Teaching. The students under the MEP will be able to spend 05-10 Months as Exchange Fellows, whereas, the faculty will be able to avail 01 week to 03 months in exchange duration.

Speaking on the occasion, IIU Rector said it is the age of interdisciplinary approach, we need to compete the world and it is imperative to broaden our academic spheres by mingling with the universities across the world. He said educational institutions are the ray of hope as societies are looking towards them as solution providers. It is time to respond and deliver to the society, through joint venture of science and research we may address the prevalent issues. He hailed the development of MoU and hoped it would be milestone to open new horizons of academic excellence.

Prof. Dr. Nigar D. Cakar, Rector, Duzce University said on the occasion that the MEP is a purely academic exchange opportunity for students and faculty at both ends, Pakistan and Turkey. She also apprised about the activities, vision and faculties of the university as well.

The signing ceremony was hosted by IRD at old campus. On the occasion, Executive Director-IRD Dr. Husnul Amin presented brief features of the MoU. The ceremony was also attended by Dr. Sibel Bayram representative Duzce University, Turkey. Vice President Academies, Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily and Director ORIC-IIUI Dr. Mushtaq Ahmed.
