The Rising Leaders’ Summit 2022 

Swabi, December 08, 2022 (PPI-OT):Association International des Etudiants en Sciences Economiques et Commercial (AIESEC) under the Department of Student Affairs organized an All-Pakistan Event named as “The Rising Leaders’ Summit (RLS)” on 2nd, 3rd and 4th December 2022 at GIK Institute.

Around 100 AIESEC delegations from different Universities/Institutes of Pakistan visited GIK Institute to participate in “The Rising Leaders’ Summit 2022”. Notable Universities/Institutes included NUST, IBA, LUMS and other universities in Islamabad, Lahore, and Hyderabad etc.

The Rising Leaders’ Summit (RLS) 2022 is a revamp of the previously run Operations Summit. The newly elected leadership of AIESEC in Pakistan were invited to GIK Institute on “The Rising Leaders’ Summit” to learn and discover broader operations of their respective portfolios.

The members of the AIESEC in Pakistan were given a chance to educate the AIESEC teams on how to gain insights into the art of leadership, thus honing their skill to take the entity to greater heights during their terms. Different sessions were organized to enhance the managerial skills, decision making skills, time management skills, conflicts management etc.

Design Build Fly Competition-16 

Swabi, December 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Society (AIAA) under the Department of Student Affairs organized an All-Pakistan event on 25th, 26th, 27th November 2022 named as Design Build Fly Competition-16 (DBFC-16) at GIK Institute. There were more than 200 participants represented different universities/institutes of Pakistan.

he competition provided an opportunity to the participants to design and build aircraft keeping in view of the instructions provided. An introductory session was also organized in the three-day event to provide basic information about the competition.

To make the competition challenging and transparent different point scoring steps were taken in presence of the Judges. A viva was arranged regarding the Design build competition and radio-controlled plan. The Radio-Controlled Plan (RC Plan) were tested in the Mechanical Engineering Workshop. The RC Plan flights, air control and landing activity was organized at the main ground of GIK Institute. Based on the point scoring the winning teams/participants were awarded with prizes and certificates.

The participants were also entertained with the Qawali night and a theme dinner. The three-day event was successfully organized to polish the skills of the students of the GIK Institute and the participants of the other universities/institutes.

Industrial Study Visit of FEE Students to Bestway Cement Limited Taxila

Swabi, December 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):On December 1 2022, Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE), GIK Institute arranged an industrial visit to Bestway Cement Limited, Taxila for the second-year students of FEE. Faculty members, Dr. Waleed Tariq Sethi, Engr. Afaq Hussain, and Mazhar Javed accompanied the students during the visit.

The students visited the 132 kV Electrical substation, 20 MW Solar farm, Different processes required in the manufacturing of cement and Waste heat recovery power plant. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to get an idea of the application of electrical engineering in the manufacturing of cement.

The 17th edition of International Conferences on Emerging Technology successfully concluded at GIKI 

Swabi, December 05, 2022 (PPI-OT):The 17th edition of International Conferences on Emerging Technology (ICET 2022) successfully concluded on November 30, 2022 at the Ghulam Ishaq Khan Institute of Engineering Sciences and Technology. Speakers in the concluding ceremony of the two-day international conference on Wednesday said that the emerging technologies can help in rapid solution of various problems confronting mankind in the present rapidly changing and complicated world.

The International Conference of Emerging Technologies was organized by the Computer Science Faculty of GIK Institute and scholars from across the country and abroad participated and expressed their views to tackle various complicated issues in a creative way.

Prof Dr Mohammad Mujahid, Rector Pak-Austria Fachhochschule Institute of Applied Sciences and Technology (PAF-IAST) was chief guest in the concluding ceremony. He spoke in detail about the emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, machine learning, augmented reality, the internet of things, and quantum computing.

Activities like conferences/workshops are very important because this is how you learn to improve and develop your skills, applied research which could benefit the local community and resolve the problems like issues related to recent pandemic (COVID), energy, and climate change. Prof Mujahid, said that PAF-IAST Center for Mineral Resources and Technologies, Center for Railway Engineering and Center for Artificial Intelligence all are demand driven and aimed to solve local problems.

Prof Dr Sarfraz Khurshid Vice Chancellor of Information Technology University of Punjab said that there are plenty of research opportunities, you only need to get the right track and meeting with different researchers to get in-depth idea of innovation, their experience can help you excel a lot and the students should take research focus courses while knowing how they could achieve his objective.

Prof Dr Fazal Ahmad Khalid said that the emerging technologies can help companies to create power transformation to drive revenue in the present era of tough competition. Dr Masroor Hussain, coordinator of the conference said that a total of 45 research papers were accepted out of 170 research papers submitted from 31 countries including United States, China, Malaysia and Pakistan and every research paper was reviewed by at least two different reviewers.

FEE Final Year Students’ visit to Tarbela Dam and Power House 

Swabi, December 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):On November 30, 2022, ORIC GIK Institute arranged an industrial visit to Tarbela Dam for the final year students of Faculty of Electrical Engineering (FEE). Faculty members, Dr. Nisar, Dr. Irfan, and Engr. Umar accompanied the students during the visit. The visit provided the students with an opportunity to get an idea of the working of the Hydroelectric power plant and to observe the intricacies behind the entire hydel power generation setup.
