Clause no 5 of Terms and Conditions will be read as follows:

Five percent (5%) of the estimated price must be accompanied with the bid as Bid Security / earnest money in the form of Demand Draft / Pay Order / Call Deposit Receipt in favour of Treasurer Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi. Bid(s) without earnest money will not be considered. Bids with LESS / MORE earnest money will not be entertained. No Crossed-Cheque / Bank Challan / Cash or any other instrument other than Demand Draft / Pay Order / Call Deposit will be accepted.

Inaugural Ceremony of SDGs Research and Resource Centre (March 2023)

Rawalpindi, March 24, 2023 (PPI-OT): Inaugural Ceremony of SDGs Research and Resource Centre held on 22 March, 2023 “Recurrent generation, optimal allocation and efficient utilization of limited resources by the academia can formulate the trajectories for achieving Sustainable Development Goals” said Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin, Director SDGs Research and Resource Centre (SRRC) in the inaugural ceremony of SRRC held on 22nd March 2023.

The Centre was inaugurated with ribbon cutting by the Vice Chancellor FJWU, Dr. Saima Hamid and Ms. Uzma Qureshi, Senior Social Development Specialist at the World Bank, at Department of Economics, FJWU in collaboration with the World Bank and South Asia Economic Policy Network. The Centre was launched at second International Conference on ‘’Sustainable Development in Contemporary World: Priorities, Challenges and Prospects’ held on October 4-6, 2022. Prof. Dr. Bushra Yasmin welcomed the guests and gave the overview of the centre. While highlighting the significance of SRRC, she said that universities are a vital source providing requisite research-based insights, high quality education and ground breaking innovation. They are excellent promoters of global and local partnerships.

Ms. Uzma Qureshi, senior social development specialist at the World Bank was the guest speaker of the ceremony. Ms. Qureshi has been working on gender equality, women empowerment, financial inclusion, and gender responsive budgeting and planning with national and international organizations. She has also worked with UN Women in Pakistan for 8 years leading women’s economic empowerment program and managed UN Women Uganda’s portfolio in 2016. Ms. Qureshi presented some of the analytical researches being carried out by the World Bank on Female Labour Force Participation and Sexual Harassment. She emphasized the importance of role of women in employment sector and the certain challenges they face.

A Poster Competition was also held based on the theme of Sustainable Development Goals during the inaugural. A large number of students from various departments participated in the competition. The jury awarded top 3 positions for the posters. The guest speaker and Director SRRC awarded prizes and certificates to the winners. Guest speaker was presented the university souvenir and the event was ended with a group photo.

Notice for Candidates MS / M.Phil. / PH.D. Programs Spring 2023 (New Intake)

Rawalpindi, March 20, 2023 (PPI-OT):Candidates of MS / M.PHIL. / Ph.D. Programs who have qualified for the Merit Lists can deposit their fee by March 22, 2023 (from 09:00 am to 12:00 pm) in the University.

All candidates must have the exact amount of fee dues as provided on FJWU website in order to avoid any inconvenience and unnecessary delays in payment procedure.

Classes / Semester for MS / M.Phil. / Ph.D. Programs is scheduled to commence form March 27, 2023.

It is to inform to all concerned that MS / M.Phil. classes in any degree program will not be initiated, if the number of enrollment of students is less than 5.

It is also to bring into your kind information that, as per FJWU Rules and Regulations the merit list for the following Programs is not being displayed due to less numbers of eligible applicants:

All Pakistan Women University Consortium Conference (2023) 

Rawalpindi, February 25, 2023 (PPI-OT):All Pakistan Women University Consortium Conference is coming up with the support of HEC and British Council on March 10, 2023.

Objectives of the Conference:

To highlight significance of women’s leadership role in socio- economic development.

To discuss key challenges and way-forward for women’s role in decision making.

To come up with policy directions and recommendations for policymakers towards promoting women empowerment in Pakistan.

To promote awareness about opportunities for Pakistani emerging women leaders in higher education.

Conference Activities:

The conference will be based on three plenary sessions. Eminent scholars and women leaders will be called to share their views and experiences.

USAID-funded Merit and Needs Based Scholarship Program (2023)

50% Scholarships are reserved for Female Students only

Undergraduate Scholarships for Flood 2022 Affected Students only

Recent floods in Pakistan has caused unprecedented damages to the infrastructure and livelihood of people in millions. Continuation of higher education for the students of universities who belong to flood affected districts has become minimal and many are at verge to drop out due to non-availability of financial resources.

USAID-funded Merit and Needs based Scholarship Program provides scholarships to students from financially disadvantaged households since 2004. To support enrolled students of universities from the flood affected districts, the Program will provide scholarships to enable them to complete their university degrees.

Eligibility

a) Must be enrolled in 5th or 6th semester in Undergraduate degree programs in selected disciplines only.

b) Belong to districts/sub-districts/UC Tehsils affected by the floods identified by Government of Pakistan/PDMA/District Administration.

c) Provide proof of flood damage such as household, livelihood, etc.

d) The students will be required to apply online.

e) Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by the Institutional Scholarship Award Committee of the University for Consideration of financial assistance;

f) 50% of scholarships are reserved for females.

g) Students with different abilities are strongly encouraged to apply.

Note: Scholarship award will be made strictly on merit whereas HEC reserves the right to cancel the scholarship award if the information provided by the applicant is found dubious and incorrect at time of physical verification.

Student availing any other scholarship or continuous grant are ineligible.

3rd International Conference on Pakistan in 21st Century: Challenges, Responses and Opportunities 

Rawalpindi, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):The 21st century has been marked by a number of challenges for the entire international community. In the recent decades, Pakistan has been affected by various events and occurrences which not only exposed the country to traditional security threats but also affected the non-traditional security aspects in myriad ways. COVID-19 remained one of the major challenges impacting the social, political and economic spheres of Pakistan. Similarly, population explosion, food insecurity, climate change, increasing poverty levels, radicalization, separatist insurgencies, sectarian extremism, political violence and deterrence instability are some of the key challenges faced by Pakistan in contemporary world.

The conference aims to offer a platform for renowned scholars of social sciences to share their intellect and reflect on the internal and extremal threats encircling Pakistan in the contemporary era. Moreover, this is an attempt to unite the esteemed scholars and experts from across Pakistan and abroad to unravel the key challenges and collectively suggest a way forward for a progressive and peaceful Pakistan.

The prime objective of the conference is to highlight the key challenges, analyze the responses and find solutions to deal with such emanating threats. This international Conference will provide its participants with an opportunity to learn, share and demonstrate their research, preposition, strategies, and policies pertaining to key threats being encountered by Pakistan in the 21st century as well as dealing with the development, research and adaptation challenges related to traditional and non-traditional domains of Security.

Conference Details All authors are expected to abide by paper submission and presentation guidelines as well as deadlines.

Submission of Abstracts

Interested authors/presenters are advised to send in their abstracts at the conference email, latest by 5th March, 2023. Please note that the Abstract must be no longer than 250 words. The authors are requested to please add a brief biographical note (not exceeding 100 words) stating their name(s) and institutional affiliation(s) in the email body. In case of multiple authors, please state the primary and secondary authors and the potential presenter.

Paper Submission

If the abstract is accepted, the author must provide the conference Organizing Committee with full-text paper by April 17th, 2023. Full text papers must follow submission and presentation guidelines.

Submission of Presentation (Slides)

Once their papers have been accepted, the speakers would be expected by the Conference Committee to submit their final presentations (tentatively 10 days prior to the day of the event). The presentations must not exceed 15 slides considering that the allocated time slot for each speaker shall be 15-20 minutes.

Originality

Authors must confirm that the submitted work is original, has not appeared in literature in any form in the past and will not be submitted to any other venue concurrently while it is under review at FJWU following the Conference.

For Individual Presenter outside FJWU: 2500 PKR for FJWU Faculty and Staff: 2000 PKR for FJWU Students: 1500 PKR

Presenters will receive a certificate of participation as well as an opportunity to publish in the conference proceeding.

FJWU shall not be responsible for funding expenditures including but not limited to in person attendance, lodging and messing of the presenters or participants. All attendees shall cater to all costs regarding their travel, messing and lodging.
