“Love and Life” by Tuaha ibn e Jalil 

Islamabad, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):Air University Islamic Society’s arranged a motivational talk followed by Q and A session organized on 14 Feb, 2023 at 1130 Hrs. on the topic “Love and Life” by Tuaha ibn e Jalil; a renowned Motivational Speaker and the Country Head of the Youth Club, aimed at the character building of the young students of Air University.

An overwhelming response was observed from the students as it was a houseful in the main auditorium. The speaker discussed various social norms and the concept of love, marriage, friendship, associated facts, and misconceptions in a very fun and interactive way.

The speaker also targeted various youth centric issues and possible solutions. The event served as an awareness among youth for having a better understanding of love in an Islamic, ethical and psychological point of view. It also helped students understand how to prevent depression during troubled relationship. It also served as a forum for students learning on how to be happy with their own self.

Student’s queries and concerns were answered through a generous Q and A session at the end.

The session ended on a very positive note from the speaker and the audience was left motivated, uplifted and educated.

Sky Gazing 

Islamabad, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):This is an annual event conducted by the Air Astronomical Society where it is a unique opportunity for all the astronomy enthusiasts to witness the wonders of the night sky. The event was led by experts who also explained the fascinating facts about the universe and its mysteries.

Three telescopes were placed in front of the LTC building in collaboration with Pak Astronomers. Students were able to observe planets, constellations and nebulas and got a lot to learn about astronomy, space and telescopes. Students of Air University aligned together to take a good look at the planets and stars. The event was conducted on 21st February 2023.

This event helped increase students’ understanding of astronomy concepts, it has always worked as a platform to foster teamwork and communication skills. Sky gazing events have always been a great initiative worldwide engage the community and help inspire students to pursue careers in science, technology, and engineering.

In remembrance of Kashmir Solidarity Day

Islamabad, February 24, 2023 (PPI-OT):An event to give a message of peace and harmony for Indian occupied Kashmiri was organized in which songs; which develop a strong spirit of freedom, poetry; which narrate the situation of our oppressed Kashmiri brothers, and articles written with the message of ‘Kashmir and Peace: How can an oppressed nation mend itself’ were narrated on 15 February, 2023. The event was s Solidarity gathering in respect of Kashmir was organized by AU Music Society. It was planned with the conception to draw attention to the plight of our Kashmiri brothers.

Shaken to the shots of bullets, crackles of clubs, fierce sounds of explosions, screams of children, sighs of mothers, and silenced voices of resistance against oppression. The students used the platform at the AU Arena to raise their voice for the establishment of peace and harmony in Occupied Kashmir. The event ended with a prayer for those hit by the devastating earthquake in Turkiye and Syria and for our lost souls and broken families in Kashmir.

Air University concludes Career Counselling Week 2022

Islamabad, October 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):Vice Chancellor Air University Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed (Retd) has stressed the need of promoting career-focused education, stating that: “Air University focuses on enhancing the employability skills in order to facilitate students for choosing a perfect career path.” He was addressing the concluding session in connection with the first-ever Career Counselling Week (AUCCW 2022) organized by the AU Career Support Office. On the occasion, Director Student Affairs Fazaila Ali, Assistant Director Sabahuddin Qazi, Placement Officials Gulnaz Batool, Misbah Shahid, Mobeen Jamshed and other distinguished guests were also present.

The Vice Chancellor, in his address, emphasized that a career-oriented education is the need of time that empowers students, through academic programs and co-curricular activities, to identify their professional goals and let them move forward in the right direction to achieve successes. “Air University is taking various initiatives facilitating students to earn their valuable degree, develop bright destiny, and ensure a solid foundation for their future achievements,” he further said.

Answering a question about the importance of CGPA in job hirings, the VC acknowledged that the CGPA is usually considered the most important factor when being shortlisted for a job position. “You might get a job offer based on your academic performance, but in order to secure the seat and compete in the job market, you need to demonstrate extraordinary competencies related to creative thinking, interpersonal skills, team spirit, decision-making, and a strong grip on technology,” he stated.

“It is a universal fact that students who are more self-aware and clear on their career strengths feel more confident to explore professional opportunities,” DSA Fazaila Ali expressed while expressing her views with students. “The key objectives for organizing the Career Counselling Week include to brief newly-enrolled students of 1st semester about the significance of choosing the right career path, to test and evaluate job readiness skills, and to devise a concrete plan of action in support of career planning and development,” she emphasized.

“The data obtained could also be beneficial for research purpose and decision making process to find out more about students’ career readiness, their strengths and needs for grooming,” Sabahuddin Qazi, who heads Career Support Office, stated, informing that “it will also provide a comprehensive framework for addressing career-related goals and outcomes of curricular and co-curricular activities in terms of student’s field of study and interest areas.”

According to him, a total nine sessions were held throughout the week starting from October 10, during which the AU Career Counselling core team, composed of Gulnaz Batool, Misbah Shahid and Mobeen Jamshed, evaluated the employability skills and career readiness competencies that employers value most in the recruitment process. “The participating students were thoroughly tested on the basis of job readiness competencies, as per international best practices,” he stated.

Air University organizes 2nd International Conference on Physics 

Islamabad, May 17, 2022 (PPI-OT):Air University, has organized 2nd ‘Two Days International Conference on Physics’, during which renowned scholars and professors from Canada, Italy, Sweden, Australia, China, Iraq and other international countries expressed their views with a focus on renewable energy sources, nano-technology, magnetic, thermoelectric and ferroelectric materials. Theoretical, modelling, simulation and medical applications of Physics. The conference’s keynote talk, according to the organizer Dr. Mozaffar Hussain, Chair of the ICP 2022 and Chair Department of Physics, focused on contemporary needs on physics research.

Renowned scientist Dr. Samar Mubarakmand, who was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony, lauded the Air University’s initiative to organise the international conference providing a remarkable opportunity of knowledge sharing among scholars in the fields of Physics. Sharing his life experiences with participants, he said that knowledge of Physics is essential to every field; may it be education, healthcare or defense. In his address, he further said that Pakistan has immense reserves of a large number of minerals and natural resources that include coal, gold, copper, chromites, iron ore, and many others. “However, 95percent of minerals are still unexplored in Pakistan,” he stated, while urging the need to give due importance to the mining industry for boosting the national economy.

Earlier, Vice Chancellor Air University Air Marshal (Retd) Javaid Ahmed, in his welcoming address, acknowledged the contributions of the Department of Physics for promoting the research culture. While calling the Chief Guest Dr. Mubarakmand a national icon, he said that: “We are honoured to have such a legendary and veteran scientist among us.” According to him, there is much to learn from his outstanding achievements, professionally as well as leadership qualities. “We are highly grateful for his contributions for making the defence of our beloved homeland unconquerable,” the VC said.

The Vice Chancellor, while urging students to explore new avenues in the context of the digital era, has advised that Physics opens doors to most exciting, cutting-edge, rewarding career opportunities across the globe. According to him, one of the major lessons Air University learned during the pandemic Covid-19 is the importance of online education and distance learning. “The theme of the conference is very close to our hearts,” he said, hoping that several issues related to renewable energy, climate change and global warming would be addressed during the two-day conference. He also announced that all the campuses of varsity are going to be solar in near future.

The Vice Chancellor further said that Air University is collaborating with the Government of Pakistan for a project of water conservation and distribution management based on modern techniques of satellite imaginary and artificial intelligence. “Air University is always supportive in research and innovation through our modest efforts,” he further said, adding that “We have consequently improved our rankings as we are currently ranked 15th in the QS Ranking and 6th in the Times Higher Education Impact Ranking.”

Dr. Mozaffar Hussain, Chairman Department of Physics, said that the conference’s keynote talk would be focused on contemporary needs on physics research. According to him, the most interesting applications are in electronic circuits, resistive random-access memories, high-frequency systems, power generating devices, environmental remediation, drug delivery, diagnostics, hyperthermia treatment, biotechnology, and data storage.

Dr. Asghari Maqsood, and other distinguished speakers also emphasized the importance of quality education, urging students to focus on research in their respective fields of interest. The ceremony was attended by scholars, delegates, students, deans and directors of the Air University. A lively Q and A session was also held in which participants asked different questions related to the topics covered.

TechHighEd Pakistan 2022 (23-24 February) Concluded at Air University Islamabad 

Islamabad, February 26, 2022 (PPI-OT):The two-day Online International Conference on “TechHighEd Pakistan 2022 Smart Higher Education: Trainings, Transformations, Traps” commenced at the Air University, Islamabad. The Conference revolved around the themes of Technologies in Teaching, Assessment and Learning, Digital Classroom and Social Integration, Simulations in Education, and Human Resources in Education Technology. The Dean Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr Munawar Iqbal Ahmed, inaugurated the proceedings.

Keynote address was given by Prof. Dr John Achrazoglou from The University of Iowa, USA. After the Keynote address, the Vice Chancellor Air University, Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed HI(M) (Retd), addressed the participants and prayed for the success of the Conference. He looked forward to the invaluable recommendations which will help further streamline the online/virtual learning platforms in Pakistan. The vote of thanks was moved by Co-Chair Professor Dr Wasima Shehzad.

There were two Plenary Addresses: Prof. Dr Muhammad Shaban Rafi, Chairperson Riphah International University, and Dr Malik Ajmal Gulzar, Chair Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad. The parallel sessions in the afternoon comprised of Keynote Addresses by Dr Andreas Buerki, Cardiff University, Wales, UK and by Dr Milana Abbasova, Khazar University, Baku, Azerbaijan. An interactive session was the Panel Discussion by Prof. Dr Munawar Iqbal Ahmad with the following National Panellists: Dr Fouzia Ajmal (IIUI), Dr Humaira Irfan (UoE), Dr Hamid Ikram (GCUFBD), and Dr Sheeraz Dasti (IIUI).

The Second day’s Plenary Address was given by Dr Helaine W. Marshall, Professor of Education, Long Island University, USA. This was followed by Dr Patrica Fidalgo Head of Curriculum and Instruction, Emirates College for Advanced Education, Abu Dhabi. Further two Plenary Addresses were given by Prof. Dr Zia Ahmad Principal, Emerson University, Multan, by Prof. Dr Samina Malik, International Islamic University, Islamabad and by Prof. Dr Summaira Sarfraz, FAST, Lahore.

The Keynote Address was delivered by Dr Diki, Universitas Terbuka, Indonesia. The Panel Discussion was chaired by Prof. Dr Wasima Shehzad and the Panellists were: Dr Fauzia Janjua (IIUI); Dr Akifa Imtiaz (FJWU); and Dr Umar Farooq (CUST). The Closing Ceremony was held on the same day. The Vice Chancellor Air University, Air Marshal Javaid Ahmed HI(M) (Retd), appreciated the efforts of the Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) in organizing the conference. The Conference Findings and Recommendations were presented by Dr Sadia Irshad (Conference Focal Person). Closing Remarks were made by Dr Farzana Masroor (Chair English). The Vote of Thanks was conveyed by Dr Sohaib Sultan (Chair HEP).
