Cross Country Championship, Islamabad 

Lahore, November 26, 2021 (PPI-OT):It is apprised that Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) with collaborations of Islamabad Athletics Association (IAA) is organizing Cross Country Championship on 5th Dec 2021 at F-7 Markaz, Margalla Road Islamabad at 9:00am. Following are the events for competition:

a. Men – 10km

b. Women – 10km

c. Under 20 Men – 8km

d. Under 20 Women – 6km

Young and up-coming athletes from all affiliated units of AFP will participate in this one-day Event. The winners of this competition will be awarded cash prizes and certificates. AFP is striving hard to provide frequent competitions and other Athletics activities for athletes and the rest of the Athletics community of Pakistan. AFP will select athletes on the basis of their performance to compete at the South Asian Cross Country Championships scheduled to be held on 15th January 2022 in Nagaland, India.

Islamabad Athletics Association will be the host of this competition. All media friends are invited to cover this competition in the best interest of our national sports.

National Open Javelin Throw competition on 29th November 2021 at the Punjab Stadium Lahore

Lahore, November 22, 2021 (PPI-OT):The Athletics Federation of Pakistan in collaboration with “NAYZA” a sports accessories and clothing manufacturer is organizing the first National Open Javelin Throw competition on 29th November 2021 at the Punjab Stadium Lahore. After the phenomenal success of Pakistani Javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem at the Tokyo Olympics it was decided to provide an opportunity for the young and talented Javelin throwers of the country so they can display their talents.

Young and up-coming Javelin throwers from all affiliated units of Athletics Federation of Pakistan will participate in this one-day Event. The winners of this competition will be awarded handsome cash prizes and certificates. AFP is striving hard to provide frequent competitions and other Athletics activities for athletes and the rest of the Athletics community of Pakistan. AFP will select a number of gifted Javelin throwers for further grooming and training.

Closing Ceremony of Coaches Education and Certification System Level-I Course 

Lahore, November 20, 2021 (PPI-OT):It gives me immense pleasure to inform that with the collaboration and support of World Athletics (WA) Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) organized a Coaches Education and Certification System (CECS) Level – I Course from 9-20 Nov 2021 at Punjab Stadium Lahore.

Twelve days CECS Level – I course has been concluded today. The participants of course gain a lot of knowledge from this course. On the occasion of Closing Ceremony of course Maj Gen (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi, President Athletics Federation of Pakistan / Vice President Asian Athletics Association distributed the certificates among the participants of course.

It is further apprised that twenty-seven (27) coaches from all affiliated units of AFP attended this course. Mr. Tariq Mehmood Sidhu and Mr. Talha Iftikhar (CECS Level – I qualified lecturers of World Athletics) conducted this course.

Open Athletics trials on Sunday 14 November 2021 at Punjab Stadium Lahore – CECS Level-I Course 

Lahore, November 17, 2021 (PPI-OT):Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) organized National Open Athletics trials on Sunday 15 November 2021 at Punjab Stadium Lahore. Over 250 athletes (men and women) from services, departments and all provinces of Pakistan participated in these one-day Athletic trials. Successful athletes with outstanding performances will be selected to participate in the forthcoming Asian Indoor Athletics championships to held in Nursultan city, Kazakhstan from 11 – 13 February 2022.

The selected athletes will be invited to join a preparatory training camp to be organized at the PSB Training and coaching centre Lahore. Athletics Federation of Pakistan is presently also organizing a World Athletics CECS Level I course in which 24 local coaches are being educated. This 12 day long educational activity will conclude on 20 November 2021 and successful candidates will be awarded World Athletics Level I coaching certificates.

24th Congress Meeting of the Asian Athletics Association 

Lahore, November 12, 2021 (PPI-OT):It gives me pleasure to apprise that 24th Congress Meeting of the Asian Athletics Association (AAA) was held on 8th Nov 2021. It was attended by the Presidents and Secretary Generals of 45 Asian Countries.

President Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) Maj General (R) Muhammad Akram Sahi who is also Vice President of the AAA and Muhammad Zafar Secretary General AFP attended the Congress.

It is further apprised that in the opening remarks, Lord Sebastian Coe, President World Athletics appreciated the performance and efforts of Asian Athletics Association as well as Athletics Federation of Pakistan as AFP conducted online seminars for the sports community of Asian region during the Covid-19 crisis. He also applauded the recent outstanding performance by Mr. Arshad Nadeem, Javelin Thrower at the Tokyo Olympics.

It is a great acknowledgement by the World Leader of Athletics and it will go a long way in the promotion and development of our National Athletics.

Tokyo Olympics Games – Qualification Round of Mr. Arshad Nadeem (Javelin Thrower)

Lahore, August 04, 2021 (PPI-OT):It gives me immense pleasure to apprise you that with an outstanding throw of 85.16 meters, Pakistan’s only hope Mr. Arshad Nadeem has successfully qualified for the final of Javelin Throw competition of Tokyo Olympic 2020. Final competition is scheduled on 7th August 2021.

This morning in the qualifying round of Javelin Throw competition, Mr. Arshad Nadeem mesmerized the Pakistani public and hopefully he will not disappoint them in the final competition. He has qualified for the final, having top position in his group, with the outstanding throw of 85.16 meters.

Athletics Federation of Pakistan is thankful to the people of Pakistan for showing solidarity with AFP and the athlete on this historical occasion. We are also thankful to the honourable Federal Minister for IPC Dr. Fehmida Mirza and AFP sponsor (Mr. Zahid) for their keen interest, efforts and support extended to AFP for the extensive training of Mr. Arshad for participation in this biggest World Sports event.
