Jamshoro, June 04, 2018 (PPI-OT): All children sheltered at SOS village at Jamshoro and all other such villages across the globe are my own children. I experience a strong, cordial and close relationship with them as I mingle with these little angels here today. One must not consider or call these children as orphans, for us all, who understand our love bond with; and social duty towards them. Our support, love, care, concern and cooperation stand umbrella over them.
The above views were expressed by SU Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Fateh Muhammad Burfat during his visit to SU SOS Children’s Village to mark international orphan day. Dr. Burfat further said that University of Sindh, in its institutional capacity, and he in his official and personal capacities would always extend the village their all- out unconditional support.
“I was indeed very glad when I was told that SU had allocated five acres of its precious land for the village to be established. And I am quite contented to see for myself, every single inch of this land utilized most profitably, purposefully and productively,” Dr. Burfat remarked.
Citing world renowned cartoonist and founder of Disneyland amusement parks across the world – Walt Disney, Dr. Burfat further observed that children and their minds served to be any nation’s greatest national resource; serving whom, fostering whom, helping whom actualize the potential bestowed upon them by divine powers was the best of what anyone could ever undertake to do.
Addressing the village management team Dr. Burfat maintained, “You are indeed blessed as God has chosen you for the magnanimous and matchlessly rewarding task of rearing these children; who belong to none; yet belong to all of us”. Dr. Burfat also explicitly appreciated the village administration for having provided children living and learning environment comparable to all sister villages across the globe – be they in Asia, Europe or other developed parts of the world.
Assistant Director SU SOS Children Village Nayab Jamil, Sponsorship Coordinator Zeenat Bhurt, Members Management Committee Prof. Dr. Tahmina Mufti, Yasmeen Mari and Dr. Pardeep Kumar extended credits to Dr. Burfat for his keen interest, visit, and interface with children and the promised future support.
The village management committee members maintained, in consensus, that Dr. Burfat enjoyed an inspiring history of active engagement in countless altruistic projects and philanthropic undertakings in varied settings. “This is what makes us attach strong hopes for well- knit future collaborations with SU under Dr. Burfat’s patronage”, the committee members expressed.
Dr. Burfat also went round the village, viewed children quarters, parks, school, entertainement places, sports arena, food outlets and other points of interest. Dr. Burfat was visibly impressed by the world class health, hygiene and living standards ensured at the village. Dr. Burfat also spent plenty of time with children, shared with them his childhood memories and very affectionately impressed upon them to move ahead in life with fullest confidence.
Those who were present on the occasion included SU Thatta Campus Focal Person Prof. Dr. Sarfaraz Hussain Solangi, SU Registrar Prof. Dr. Muhammad Saleem Chandio, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Prof. Dr. Nagma Maghrio, Director Finance Muhammad Mashooq Siddiqui, Director STAGS Dr. Sumera Umrani, Advisor to the Vice Chancellor Dr. Ameer Ali Abro, Secretary to Vice Chancellor Abdul Hafeez Abro, Dr. Arbeela Agha and others.
