Sindh Assembly leaves entire agenda unaddressed 

Islamabad, April 06, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Sindh Assembly left entire agenda unaddressed on Wednesday and adopted one supplementary resolution, observes Free and Fair Election Network (FAFEN) in its Daily Factsheet.

Following are key observations of the House proceedings during fifth and last sitting of 26th session:

Members’ Participation

The House met for 27 minutes.

The sitting started at 03:56 pm against the scheduled time of 02:00 pm.

The speaker presided over the entire proceedings.

The deputy speaker was not present.

The leader of the house (chief minister) did not attend the sitting.

The leader of the opposition attended the sitting for 22 minutes.

As many as 68 MPAs (40 percent) were present at the outset and 98 (58 percent) at the adjournment of the sitting.

The parliamentary leaders of PPPP, PTI, TLP, MQMP and MMAP attended the proceedings.

Seven out of nine minority lawmakers attended the proceedings.

Output

The House did not consider four government bills, a report of standing committee and 11 audit reports.

The House adopted a supplementary resolution to condemn the ruling of Deputy Speaker National Assembly against no-confidence motion.

Representation and Responsiveness

The House neither observed question hour nor took up a calling attention notice and a privilege motion.

Two adjournment motions on the agenda also remained unaddressed.

Order and Institutionalization

A lawmaker spoke on a point of order for three minutes.

PTI lawmakers protested for seven minutes during the proceedings against the passage of resolution.

The session was prorogued sine die.

Transparency

‘Orders of the Day’ was available to the legislators, observers and public.

The attendance of lawmakers was not available to the media and observers.
