Lahore, September 19, 2019 (PPI-OT): The Punjab University Library Book Club organized seminar to explain two books titled “Kamiyabi ka Moghalta” written by Atif Hussain and “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” written by Yuval Noah Harari. The introductory talk on the book of the “Harari” was presented by Mr. Shahzeb Khan, Assistant Professor, Department of English Language and literature. Presenting the main theme and style of the book, Mr. Shahzeb Khan urged the audience to develop a reading style of critically examining the arguments of any author before accepting these arguments as true.
The talk on the second book was presented by Mr. Muhammad Rasheed Arshad, Lecturer, Department of Philosophy. Presenting the theme of his book, he softly argued that the widely accepted literature and practices on certain themes such as rules for success in life etc. are not always true. He also stressed the need to critically analyze any reading substance before trusting on it. Chief Librarian Dr. Muhammad Haroon Usmani said that the library aimed at doing its best in promoting reading culture among younger generation and will continue it.
