PU allocates Rs 100m to resolve socio-economic issues 

Lahore, December 23, 2022 (PPI-OT):Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Asghar Zaidi on Friday approved as many as 409 research projects worth Rs 100 million to solve socio-economic problems of the country and society and create new knowledge in the relevant fields. In a press statement, Dr Zaidi said that this initiative would not only promote research culture but also help add new studies in the existing body of knowledge. He said that it was the era of knowledge economy and the nations who were spending on research were ruling the world. He said that no nation could progress without spending required money on education.

He said that funding of these research projects would also promote research culture in the university. He said that research funding would increase the research capabilities of teachers and students. According to the notification, lecturers/assistant professors would be able to spend Rs 200,000, associate professors Rs 250,000 and professors Rs 300,000 against their approved research projects. Punjab University Academic Staff Association President Prof Dr Azhar Naeem and Secretary Dr Amjad Abbas Magsi have thanked the Vice Chancellor for expediting the whole process, which was meant for promotion of research culture in Punjab University.
