Lahore, June 08, 2018 (PPI-OT): Eminent political scientist and analyst Professor Hassan Askari Rizvi is the 10th Old Ravian to become the chief minister of Punjab, said the Old Ravians Union (ORU) executive committee on while passing on good wishes to Prof Rizvi on his appointment as the caretaker chief minister.
ORU President Kazi Afaq Hossain said Prof Rizvi was the man of honour, integrity, honesty, and dignity and was the best choice in the ongoing situation. He maintained that all Old Ravians were highly pleased by Prof Rizvi’s selection because he maintained a very high repute of impartiality among all sections of the society.
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Hassan Amir Shah said that it has always been a moment of great pride for an educational institution when its alumnus is appointed on some prestigious position. He said that co-curricular activities at GCU played a very vital in inculcating leadership qualities among its alumni.
ORU Honorary Secretary Prof Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt said the first chief minister of Punjab, Nawab Iftikhar Mamdot, was also alumni of Government College Lahore, while Mian Mumtaz Daultana, Malik Feroze Khan Noon, Malik Khuda Bakhsh Bucha, Muhammad Hanif Ramay, Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, Dost Muhammad Khosa, Mr Najam Sethi and Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif were also Old Ravians.
He said that Prof Hassan Rizvi had studied at the Government College Lahore from 1960 to 1964, and also taught political science here in late 1960s. Old Ravians Union General Secretary Rana Asadullah Khan also congratulated Prof Rizvi and hoped that he, as an eminent educationist, would take initiatives for promotion of education.
