Karachi, February 01, 2019 (PPI-OT): President, Mohammad Ali Jinnah University, Karachi (MAJU) Prof. Dr. Zubair Shaikh said that Universities are known through their research activities globally, who help the government as well as Trade and Industry sectors by presenting the solutions of the problems faced by them by conducting research on it. He said that in Pakistan there exists a need to bridge the gap between academia and industry which is only possible to promote research culture here.
These views he expressed while he was addressing the opening session of a three days long training camp for MAJU’s PhD students, which was organized by faculty of Business Administration and Social Sciences on Friday at University campus. The basic aim to organizing this camp was to equip PhD students with essential knowledge for conducting research. In his speech, Dr. Zubair Shaikh emphasized upon the student that PhD degree is obtained with a view to improve teaching standard in the country to bring at par with international standard of education.
He told that PhD should not be done to enhance their salary package which is a completely unjustified approach. It is mentioned here that during this three days training camp, lectures will be given on the topics of Writing “Introduction” chapter of PhD dissertation by Dr. Aamer Feroz Shamsi, Construct Development by Dr. Tariq Jalees, Panel Data Analysis using Stata by Dr. Muhammad Kashif, Estimation of VAR and VECM in Stata by Dr. Jameel Khilji, How to write an impact factor research paper by Dr. Shujaat Mubarak and PhD proposal writing by Dr. Ikhtiar Ali.
