Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association initiates process for its election for the year 2018-19

Lahore, July 09, 2018 (PPI-OT): Pakistan Chemical Manufacturers Association (PCMA) has initiated the process for its election for the year 2018-19. A meeting of the Executive Committee of PCMA was held today to discuss the election schedule. Mr. Iqbal Kidwai, Secretary General of PCMA, while addressing the meeting informed that as per Rules of the Directorate General of Trade Organizations, PCMA have to initiate the process in July and finish the whole thing by Sep 30th, 2018. First thing first, the EC has to approve the Election Schedule and the Election Commission with in first half of July, he said and proposed to compose an election commission by next week.

PCMA Secretary General said that last year, the office bearers had focused their attention to firm up the “Responsible Care Program” to ensure implementation of the international safety standards in the local chemical industry. Whereas, the theme to be adopted by the upcoming office bearers would be to conduct a rapid advocacy campaign for establishment of the first-ever Crude-Nephta Cracker Petro-chemical Complex in the country.

This is notable that PCMA is a young organization, which was established in 2015. The Association’s members completed the pre-condition of two-years’ seniority in July 2017 that enabled it’s first-ever election to happen in September last. This year the Association is going to enter into second term its annual election.
