ORIC Holds a Session on Commercialization of Tissue Cultured Plants

Islamabad, July 07, 2021 (PPI-OT):Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) in collaboration with Department of Bioinformatics and Biosciences conducted an interactive session on “Commercialization of Tissue Cultured Plants” on June 22, 2021 at 10:00 AM. A team from Pakistan Agriculture Research Council (PARC) headed by Dr. Aish Muhammad, Principal Scientific Officer, Faculty from Department of Bioinformatics and Biosciences and Dean Research and Innovation participated in the session.

Dean Research and Innovation apprised the PARC team regarding the project titled “Optimization and Establishment of In Vitro Cultures of Potato, Banana and Ornamental Plants for Commercialization”. He further added that two of our young and energetic faculty members are working on the project and they have successfully micro propagated Banana and Potato plants.

Being the Head of Plant Biotechnology at National Institute of Genomics and Advanced Biotechnology (NIGAB), expertise of the Dr. Aish and his team were sought regarding the commercialization of these micro propagated plants. The team appreciated the project and assured full support in terms of commercialization of these plants. Dr. Aish suggested to focus on the banana plants, and once the plants are transferred into tubes he can provide the potential customers.

Dean Research and Innovation and HoD Bioinformatics and Biosciences thanked the PARC team for their visit to Capital University of Science and Technology, Islamabad.
