Karachi, February 11, 2019 (PPI-OT):The speakers of University of Karachi yet again bagged the team trophy at the All Pakistan Bilingual Declamation Contest organized by DHACSS College for Women, the Students Advisor Office of Karachi University announced on Monday. The contest comprised of eighteen teams from all over the country. The University of Karachi clinched the team trophy as Hafsa Tahir grabbed first position in the English category while Junaid Mumtaz received third position in the Urdu category.
Meanwhile, other positions in the English category were secured by Kinza Imran of Bahria College Karsaz and Amjad Ali of Islamia College, Quetta. In Urdu Declamation, Sub Lt Muhammad Ahsan of NUST PNEC secured first position and second position was won by Saad Ghaffar from University of Sindh, Jamshoro.
The Chairman, Board of Secondary Education, Karachi, Professor Dr Saeeduddin was the chief guest of the event. He appreciated the enthusiasm arrayed by the students and stressed on the significance of the art of speaking. In the end, the chief guest distributed certificates and shields among the participants of the declamation contest. The Principal DHACSS College for Women presented a memorable shield to the chief guest.
On the other hand, the Vice Chancellor, University of Karachi, Professor Dr Muhammad Ajmal Khan, congratulated the students and expressed that there is dire need of promoting the culture of tolerance in the society and it could be done by holding dialogue and debate competitions. He mentioned that universities always played a vital role in promoting dialogue culture. He said that Karachi University is believes in giving equal opportunities to students as they are taking part in every competition.
