It has also called for constituting a parliamentary Commission and a Senate committee to probe into the rigging. The Opposition leaders also announced protest in front of the Election Commission Punjab in this respect on a date to be decided within two days. The announcement was made by the leaders of the opposition parties led by MMA Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, at a press conference. Those present on the occasion included PPP’s Haji Azizur Rehman Chann, JUI(F);s Maulana Amjad Khan and Riaz Durrani, and JI’s Bilal Qudrat Butt and Amirul Azeem, Sarfraz Ahmed Khan and Maulana Javed Kasuri.

Liaqat Baloch said that the strong reservations in regard to the election results were pouring in from every book and corner of the country and all the parties contesting the election were of the view that the results of the 25th July elections could not be accepted. He said the Election Commission failed to function independently and it surrendered before some other authority.

The state became a party to the election and the impartiality of the state was affected. He said that this state of affairs could have extreme results. In reply to a question about the Form 45, the MMA Secretary General said that the position of the elections had already become controversial and the explanation from the Election Commission was of no significance. He said that if the incoming government and its spokesmen ignored the opposition protest or adopted anon serious attitude, the government itself would be the loser.

He said that the party which came to power after the 2013 elections had also ignored the opposition protest and if Imran Khan himself adopted the same attitude, the protest would grow strong. Meanwhile, while talking to a delegation from Azad Kashmir, Liaqat Baloch said that the sacrifices being made by the Kashmiris would bear fruit soon. He said that the new government in Islamabad would have to adopt a strong Kashmir policy for the grant of the right of self determination to the Kashmir in line with the UN resolution.
