NorCross and PRCS work together to provide healthcare facilities to flood victims in Sindh

Karachi, March 06, 2023 (PPI-OT): The Pakistan Red Crescent Society, with Norwegian Red Cross (NorCross) Support, has initiated two Mobile Health Teams (MHT) performing outreach medical services in Jacobabad and Jamshoro @ Sehwan. These mobile health teams will help in restoring basic healthcare delivery and critical public health functions for the affected population, which has been cut off from essential health services.

MHT in Jacobabad was initiated on 2nd January 2023 and has reached out to 3379 beneficiaries in curative health services and 4624 beneficiaries in health awareness sessions. Meanwhile, MHT Sehwan has just started its operations in the flood-affected villages.

By far the most commonly seen health conditions include respiratory tract infections, malnutrition, and diarrhea and skin diseases. Along with the treatment and free medicines, these mobile health teams are conducting health awareness sessions in the community to raise knowledge of disease prevention, good hygiene, and health practices.
