Nearly 3 in 4 (74%) Pakistanis believe that in order to be a true Pakistani, one’s forefathers should originate from Pakistan (before partition): Gallup and Gilani Pakistan 

Islamabad, January 19, 2022 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, nearly 3 in 4 (74%) Pakistanis believe that in order to be a true Pakistani, one’s forefathers should originate from Pakistan (before partition).

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the four provinces was asked the following question, “Some people think it is important to have following points to be a true Pakistani whereas other people think these are not as important. To what extent do you agree? (Your forefathers originating from Pakistan (before partition).” In response to this question, 74% said very important, 14% said somewhat important, 4% said very little important, and 3% said not important at all. 5% did not know or provided no response.

Question: “Some people think it is important to have the following points to be a true Pakistani whereas other people think these are not as important. To what extent do you agree? (Your forefathers originating from Pakistan (before partition).”
