Karachi, January 21, 2019 (PPI-OT): The media industry is passing through a critical juncture; adding that the media houses’ owners have started down-sizing in their TV channels and news papers by taking an advantage of anti-media policy of the present government.
This was stated by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Karachi Chapter Chief Hafiz Naeem-ur-Rehman in a luncheon reception in the honor of newly-elected office bearers of Karachi Press Club (KPC) at Idara-e-Noor Haq here on yesterday. On the occasion, Hafiz Naeem said that the JI is a name of ideological struggle; adding that it is our prime obligation to struggle for imposition of Islamic laws in the society.
Hafiz Naeem said that the Jamaat-e-Islami always stands with the journalists’ community in their crucial time. He urged the newly elected office-bearers of KPC to raise the voice for the rights of the media workers, adding that the JI will continue to work for the betterment of the journalists. Hafiz Naeem further said that the JI Karachi Chapter is invited the KPC office-bearers every year to discuss the matters of mutual understanding.
On the occasion, the KPC Secretary Arman Sabir said that the KPC is working on the issues faced by the media workers and soon the problems of the media workers would be resolved. “Nowadays, the media is fastly converted into digital media and all the journalists’ community should gather under a platform in order to evolve an effective strategy for the fraternity”, Arman Sabir added. The KUJ-Dastoor President Tariq Abul Hasan said that the media and political workers should work unitedly. On the occasion, the KPC Joint Secretary Hanif Akbar, Treasurer Raja Kamran and other office bearers were also present.
