Lahore, March 04, 2019 (PPI-OT): Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that the large crowds attending the funeral of the Pakistani citizen Shakirullah tortured to death in Indian jail and the two soldiers martyred in the Indian firing proved that the Pakistani nation was imbued with the spirit of Jehad and love for martyrdom. He was talking to the media at Kasur after offering his condolences to the General Secretary, JI central Punjab Maulana Javed Kasuri, on the death of his brother at their village.
Liaqat Baloch said the world did not afford a war between two nuclear states as it would affect the world at large. However, he said the demand for the Kashmiris right of self-determination and the solution of the Kashmir issue could not be cast aside under the cover of peace dialogue. Similarly, he said, the positive effects of the US withdrawal from Afghanistan and India’s defeat in Kashmir would not be allowed to be ignored.
The JI Secretary General opposed the recognition of Israel. He further said that the nation was united against India and there was no reason to go back on the country’s principled stance only to seek the Noble Prize of Peace or to beg peace from India. He opposed further raise in the gas and electricity prices as it would lead to a flood of price hike and undermine national unity.
