Karachi, December 03, 2022 (PPI-OT):The government of Pakistan has decided to make transgender women a part of Benazir Kafalat program for the first time. Federal Minister and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) Shazia Atta Marri has announced to make transgender women a part of the sponsorship program. The BISP Board decided to include transgender women under the Benazir Kafalat program under the leadership of the Chairperson.
Federal Minister for Poverty Alleviation and Social Security and Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program Shazia Atta Marri said in her video message that transgenders are also a part of the society like us and it is the duty of the government to take care of them. To benefit from the program, transgenders must first update their gender in the identity card from NADRA.
The federal minister further said that eunuchs should get their identity card updated from NADRA and get registered at BISP tehsil offices and upon successful registration the applicant eunuchs will receive a message from 8171 number and they will get Rs 7000 quarterly.
