Larkana, June 21, 2022 (PPI-OT):Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party and Foreign Minister, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto fought for 30 years for the development of the country and the people. She was the voice of the people and hope for the youth.
Addressing a mammoth rally in Larkana on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, the first elected woman Prime Minister of the Islamic world and Chairperson of Pakistan Peoples Party, the Chairman Bilawal said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto struggled to convey the peaceful message of Islam. She fought oppression and dictators like General Zia and General Musharraf. He said that it was expected after assassinating Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto that the PPP would end and no one would be there to raise their voice for the rights of poor people in the country. However, this effort was quashed. He further said that Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto is still alive in the form of Jiyalas.
Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari criticized the politics of Imran Khan and said that the members of PPP had refused to recognize the selected government from the very first day. He said that for the first time in the history of the country, the Jiyalas sent home the selected government through the no-confidence motion as the result of a peaceful struggle, all in a constitutional manner. He said that sending the selected government home was inevitable as it was attacking the rights of the people, constitution and democracy. He said that Pakistan was saved by overthrowing the selected government.
Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that after sending the selected government home, he realised the extent of the damage Imran Khan had done to the country during his four years in power. He said that after reading the details of PTIMF deal, he was amazed at how such an act could be done with the country. He said that Imran Khan played a dangerous game with the country in the name of subsidy on petroleum products, which resulted in the country being on the verge of bankruptcy.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that since becoming the Foreign Minister, he has tried to represent Pakistan better everywhere. “At the moment, the focus of foreign policy is the economy, and trade is our policy, not aid,” he said. We have talked to all the countries, including the United States, regarding Pakistan’s business community doing business with them, he said.
Talking about the FATF issue, the Foreign Minister said that there were two FIRs registered against Pakistan, one on money laundering and the other on the financing of terrorism. He said that Pakistan had implemented the FATF charter, but the previous government was not ready to consult the people it should have and was abusing them instead. He said that the success of FATF is the result of the efforts of all political parties and institutions, as Pakistan will be out of the grey list of FATF by October. The news regarding FATF will be followed by good news related to EU’s GSP Plus status.
“It is a great pleasure for me that Larkana is developing,” the Chairman PPP said. The Peoples Bus Service is starting from Larkana today. He said that institutions like NICVD and SIUT are also providing health services to the people in Larkana, while ownership certificates have been issued to the slum dwellers. The garbage system in Larkana has also improved and garbage is being picked up from house to house in the city. “These are small things, but they are important in the journey of development,” he said. “We know that the people are worried, but if we continue to follow in the footsteps of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, we will be able to achieve success,” he added.
Chairman Bilawal said that the Imran government was given four years, the people should give the unity government at least a year. Meanwhile, Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari cut the 69th birthday cake of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. President PPP Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khoro, Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, Speaker Agha Siraj Durrani and among others were present on the occasion.
