Lahore, September 07, 2022 (PPI-OT):The Office of Human Resources at LUMS organised a workshop, ‘Brain Health, Finding Solace: Calming the Chaos” in collaboration with Relive Now. The workshop, held on July 21, 2022, was led by Dr. Shaheryar Jovindah a psychiatrist, and the Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Mind Professionals. It was moderated by Mr. Omar Akhlaq Bhutta, Associate Director and Head of Pharmacy at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Trust (SKMT).
The workshop began with an activity where the participants were divided into groups and asked to break down their understanding of the concepts of stress, anxiety, and depression. These were later discussed and differentiated by the keynote speaker, Dr. Jovindah along with other concerns such as the stigma of getting treatment from a psychiatrist and treating mental health.
He also discussed the misconceptions related to necessary mental health medication versus overmedication along with coping mechanisms, the role of therapy, and overall well-being. “The speaker had a wide range of exposure and knowledge,” commented one of the participants at the workshop. The HR team was encouraged to continue arranging such productive sessions. The workshop ended with a question and answer session followed by refreshments.
