HEC grant to KU is insufficient: VC

Karachi, May 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): KU VC Dr. Ajmal Khan said that its my priority to clear all dues of KU faculty and employees despite financial crisis. In the last three months, KU paid 28.1 million rupees in hospitalization and medicine bills while medical allowances of 26.8 million rupees have been paid. In evening program, 57.9 million have been paid in last three months while other bills will soon be paid.

” KU’s infrastructure was developed to cater the needs of 2500 students but now there are almost 36000 students enrolled at KU. This massive increase in students led to increase in employees and faculty due to which KU faces financial crisis”, he added.

He added that KU’s own yearly income is 1.9 billion rupees, while HEC provides a grant of 1.8 billion which is insufficient for KU since it only covers salaries and pensions. KU needs grant of 5 Billion every year, since research needs resources which could be generated by fundings.
