Islamabad, September 16, 2022 (PPI-OT):According to a survey conducted by Gallup and Gilani Pakistan, half of the population believes that given the opportunity or a position of power, an ordinary citizen will also act as corruptly as politicians or bureaucrats tend to be.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women from across the country was asked the following question, “Some people think that, given the opportunity or a position of power, an ordinary citizen will also act as corruptly as politicians or bureaucrats tend to be, whereas some believe that that will not be the case. What do you think?” In response to this question, 50% responded that they would also be corrupt while 43% responded that they would not be corrupt. Older people seem to be more optimistic with 46% of those aged 50+ thinking that given the opportunity an ordinary citizen will act corruptly, as compared to 61% of the younger people aged under 30.

Question: “Some people think that, given the opportunity or a position of power, an ordinary citizen will also act as corruptly as politicians or bureaucrats tend to be, whereas some believe that that will not be the case. What do you think?”
