Government take strict action against horse trading in the Senate elections

Lahore, March 06, 2018 (PPI-OT): The Milli Yakjehti Council (MYC) has called upon the government to take strict action against horse trading in the Senate elections in order to prevent the role of money in the electoral process. The call was made by the MYC central council in a resolution adopted at its meeting held at Mansoora on Tuesday.

The meeting was presided over by the MYC President Sahibzada Abul Khair Dr Muhammad Zubair. Representative of the sixteen religious parties under the MYC attended the moot. MYC Secretary General, Liaqat Baloch, briefing newsmen after the meeting, said that the purchase and sale of assembly members in the Senate elections had raised many questions and the massed were demanding an enquiry into the matter.

He said if the Election Commission did not take any action against the parties and persons indulging in horse trading, it would be presumed that the EC itself was a party to the entire game. Another resolution noted that Pakistan had rendered more sacrifices of both men and material than any other country in the US war on terrorism but the US and other world powers were not only ignoring these sacrifices but were conspiring to impose uncalled sanctions restrictions under the Financial Action Task Force which was highly condemnable.

Liaqat Baloch told a questioner that Pakistan’s Foreign Policy was a failure and the rulers were not taking any step to protect vital national interests. It was due to the incompetence of the government that the country was being listed among grey countries supporting terrorism. He said that the country did not have a full- fledged Foreign Minister for four years and even the man holding the office was issuing non serious statements. He criticized the restrictions on the Jamaat Al- Dawa and its welfare wing FIF under US pressure.

Replying to a question, he said that the Muslims of Syria, Kashmir, Palestine and Burma were suffering hardships. He suggested that Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Iran and Pakistan should make joint efforts to solve these problems. The meeting demanded immediate withdrawal of the recent raise in the POL prices which had caused abnormal price hike in the country.

It condemned the US move to shift US embassy to Jerusalem and called upon Washington to respect Muslim world’ s sentiments in this respect. The meeting lauded the resolution adopted by the Azad Kashmir assembly in regard to the faith in the Khatme Nabuwwat and greeted the AJK President, Prime Minister and the Speaker of the AJK Assembly on that account. The meeting decided to hold Tahaffuz e Khatme Nabuwwat conference in the city on March ten. It also decided to hold a grant Ittehad e Ummah conference at the historic Badshahi mosque here on March 26.
