Give respect to the voter: Sirajul Haq

Lahore, May 07, 2018 (PPI-OT): Ameer, Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, Senator Sirajul Haq, has said that the leaders presently in power and those awaiting their turn were “devotees of the same shrine around which they “circumambulated” all the time”. “These people believe that if the “aliens” are on their side, then it is all OK, but if it is otherwise, all is wrong”, he remarked while talking to newsmen outside the parliament after attending the Senate session on Monday. Sirajul Haq said that Nawaz Sharif was talking of aliens, PTI Chairman Imran Khan had talked of unseen forces while, a third leader was also talking the same.

He said the statements of these three leaders had shaken the confidence of the masses in elections and the polling station. The masses, he said, were of the view that if a change was not possible through vote, why should they line up at the polling stations in the sizzling for hours to cast their vote. The JI chief urged the Election Commission to summon the three leaders who are quite responsible people, to divulge the names of the secret or hidden forces they were referring to. He said some people were talking of giving respect to vote, “I would say “ give respect to the voter”.

This is necessary because after their election, the leaders sit in the corridors of power while the poor voter remains stuck up in darkness, hungry and thirsty. If politics and democracy is to be given respect, the voter must be respected, he added. He said that rigged elections and Election For Nothing, were futile exercises. The JI chief impressed upon the government to trace the elements behind the murderous attack on the Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal, and said that the politics of bullet and abuses must come to an end. He prayed for the quick recovery of the Interior Minister.

Sirajul Haq said that the politics of sectarianism and ethnicity must be shunned if the country was to be made the fortress of Islam. He said the MMA was confronted with the international establishment and colonial powers which won’t like Pakistan to develop. He said that both the ruling party and the opposition were in the hand of the international establishment which had been trying them one by one. The JI chief urged the youth to rise and make the 2018 elections as the Judgment Day for the gang of the corrupt. He said that the MMA would revive the state institutions including PIA, Steel Mills, PTCL, etc with the help of the workers and the masses.
