Lahore, January 15, 2022 (PPI-OT):Former Pakistan Federation Baseball President Syed Khawar Shah, who was also holding the post of Director General in the Sports Board Punjab, has left us since four years. Syed Khawar Shah was very fond of sports and all his life he worked for the development of sports in Pakistan. During his tenure as a sports officer, he successfully held several national and international competitions. He successfully held the matches of the Cricket World Cup.
His son Syed Fakhr Ali Shah, who is also president of Pakistan Federation Baseball, said that Khawar Shah, who was also the founder of baseball in Pakistan, introduced the game in Pakistan in 1992 and work for its development in Pakistan till his death. He held international baseball tournaments in terror-stricken Pakistan at a time when foreign players and rituals were reluctant to come to Pakistan. Khawar Shah visited FATA the area most affected by terrorism and took the players’ trials for the National Baseball Academy from there and selected the best of them, and these young players excelled in various international baseball tournaments and brighten the name of the country.
Syed Fakhr Shah further said that Khawar Shah’s last task was to hold the Ind-o-Pak Baseball Series in Dubai called Dubai Baseball Cup 2017, in which Pakistan won the Gold Medal. On his return from Dubai Cup, Khawar Shah travelled to Islamabad for the baseball event in the Quaid-e-Azam Games, played in December 2017, where he successfully held baseball competitions, but his tireless work and the cool of Islamabad, Khawar Shah became ill due to the weather.
When he was checked up on his return to Lahore, doctors diagnosed the pneumonia and he was admitted to the hospital and transferred to the ventilator but he could not survive and reunited with his creator on 16-01-2018. Syed Khawar Shah died but whenever history of sports is written in Pakistan, Khawar Shah’s name will be written in golden letters. His services will never be forgotten in sports.
