Bahawalpur, September 13, 2022 (PPI-OT):Eight mosques will be built in all the campuses of the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with the special support of the Saudi Embassy and the cooperation of Majlis-e-Islami Phulnagar Pakistan. In this regard, the foundation stone of the first mosque was laid today at Abbasia Campus by Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob, Vice Chancellor, the Islamia University Bahawalpur. On this occasion, former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Salem Tariq Khan, former Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Rao Mohammad Afzal, Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar, Saudi Embassy Representative Dr. Hafiz Masood Abdul Rasheed Azhar, President High Court Bar Association AR Aurangzeb, Vice President Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mansoor Ahmed, Dean Faculty of Islamic Learning Prof. Dr. Sheikh Shafiqur Rehman, Dean Faculty of Engineering Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amjad, Dean Faculty of Computing Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hussain Tahir, Chairperson Arabic Department Prof. Dr. Raheela Khalid Qureshi, Controller of Examinations Prof. Dr. Sajjad Ahmed Paracha, Treasurer Prof. Dr. Abu Bakr, Director IT Rizwan Majeed, Director ORIC Prof. Dr. Muhammad Atif, Project Director Shahzad Asif Qureshi, Director Information Bahawalpur Dr. Nasir Hameed, Naseer Ahmad Nasir, General Secretary Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry Abir Haider, Executive Members Malik Ijaz Nazim, Umar Farooq.
The participants were told in the briefing that this mosque will have a capacity of 1000 prayers whereas earlier only 300 prayers could be offered in this mosque. The construction of this mosque will benefit the students working in the offices of Abbasia Campus along with the resident students of Law Department, Examinations Branch and Abu Bakr Hall. It is worth mentioning that thousands of students and employees will benefit from the establishment of mosques in the Islamia University of Bahawalpur with the support of the Saudi Embassy.
